Another "IMARA"
« on: April 25, 2019, 10:37:48 pm »

Hello Mayhemers,
maybe some of you remember me from some time ago.
A little more than half a year ago I started with my "IMARA" project and she is now almost finished. I am waiting only for some rigging parts from the UK.
I took a few pictures today and hope you enjoy them. The model is equipped with two electric motors (720BB), ESC's and a mixer as well as working interior and navigation lights and a pretty elaborate sound system (ShockWave II). My special thanks go to Dominick Tafelspitz who provided me with all the 3D printed door hinges.

Kind Regards
Wilhelm

Excellent build & images Wilhelm  :-))

That view [Imara_03] looking on the propellers is lifelike & looks like an 0300 shot from the floor of the Drydock O0

In the real vessel [or the model] where is access large enough to lower those 205 litre [44 gallon] drums of BP  lubricating oil down to the engine room?

Awesome work, Wilhelm. She's a real beauty and you did a stunning job!
Love the pictures and I'm sure I will use some of them as reference for my own build.

Hi,
the IMARA is done (will add a few more figurines), all that is left is the maiden voyage. I took a few extra pictures and I hope you like them.

Kind Regards
Wilhelm

Your surfaces are so smooth and crisp, painting is so neat and tidy, no brush lines or stray glue blobs.  Hate you, just hate you.

Not really Willhelm!  Inspirational more-like.  Absolutely superb job :-))   Sea trials should be fine.

Wilhelm,

I got a bunch of tire fenders ready and prepared, but no idea how to mount them to the boat. Any tips and hints for me?

Hi Dom,

I did use small eyebolts with rings. Here are two pictures to show you how I did it.

Brilliant, thanks! These eyebolts intrigue me. Where did you get them?

Hi Dom,
I did order them from "Cornwall Modell Boats" in the UK. The little brass rings are fairly delicate and I soldered them to the eyebolts. I made a small template in order to drill all the 1mm mounting holes ( for the eyebolts) exact 3mm below the lower edge of the handrail.

I hope this helps.
