Hi Mark T not sure if you have seen my major refit of this model see above link. Hope to see  on the 14 of July. Looking good Andy  Check out Macs moulding at Hooton Park for some items to give that extra detail.

Thanks Stan

Absolutely no need to glue everything together, certainly not to plan but will be much easier painting etc.

FYI I have now used a whole 1oz bottle of slow CA  %%

I'm thinking of lining the four cabin windows with brass strip like I did on Portgarth

Spent all day getting ready for road trip leading to Wicksteed eventually so no work on Lobby today.

Advance warning!

The drawing for assembling the windscreen is wrong. If you make it to the plan it will be up to 3mm short.

Regarding the rudder note that only one piece of wood is to be used and the other discarded

Hi Andy things must have changed over the years since I built mine. The rudder was much thicker and had no problems with the windscreen. Just posted some pictures on my old fishing boat thread showing rudder supplied in the kit years ago

Original instructions Stan, I don’t thing they’re updated. Two pieces of wood die cut but one to chuck away

Roger's Notes: You will only need one of the die-cut rudder parts from the die-cut sheets.

Hi Andy my rudder is much thicker but we are looking at 29 years ago since my build. But either way they work fine. I hope to have mine back at Wilton in about four weeks time.

In four weeks time I hope to be well on the way down the Mosel in Germany Stan  :-) Going with advice from DaveM I bought two motor mounts today on a whim, both similar but huge price difference. The dearer orange Graupner does seem more Stout and probably use it.

Here a picture of the alignment tool and micro flex coupling from Modelboatbits .
Essential for success of minimal or no vibration

I’ve now ordered the 750kv Turnigy motor with 4mm shaft and a new alignment tool and coupling for delivery next week.
I don’t like plastic propellers while I can afford brass and I’m wondering if downsizing the 50mm to 45 might be advantageous? Comments invited

Andy
The 50mm plastic prop on the model I made has a very fine pitch - possibly too fine, because I had to use 12 NiMH cells to get anything like a reasonable performance from the boat. Most of the bronze/brass props I've had are of a coarser pitch, so maybe you should start with a 45mm cast one. I can recommend Protean Design's range, specifically the General Scale pattern. PM me if you would like Simon's contact details.
Hope to see you on Saturday at StickyWeed when we can have a good old natter.

I've just bought a Turnigy 2836/11 750kv for my Aeronaut springer. I'll be using it with a parallel pair of 5000mAH 2s LiPos, running a 40mm 3 blade Raboesch brass prop. Should be good for about 200watts.

Hi Andy my models runs a 30 or 35 prop never had a large prop but I have no wish to influence your choice  for info only.
