run all day

This is the double sided tape I use

I've only just fully understood the settings procedure for the ESC without a programming card so I have some fine tuning to do later today

Nice, neat and even colour matched ! installation - r/c gear is wonderful in these modern times and relatively cheap !!

Another thought/suggestion re the cabin chopping - looking at that pretty interior it's not going to like water finding its wicked way into your electrics !
which it might if the cabs not glued and sealed in place as per instructions etc.

A trickier to build than a bog standard hatch coaming, but better waterproofing trick used in my offshore powerboat racing days,
was to sit the hatch/cabin sides in a U shaped channel, the inner side extended upwards, vertically as high as feasibly possible.

Simply built out of 1/16 ply vertical sides with a 3/16" or 1/4" square spacer to suit the thickness of your cabin sides plus paint thickness etc,
the cabin drops into the U channel and is reasonably watertight - to improve on this we fitted 1/4" square rubber gasket
glued to the top of the inner surface of the channel, this really did work well - but way over the top for Lobster Boats !

Thanks Paul
I wouldn't go to those lengths, much easier to allow the odd bit of water to get in but place everything out of the path of drips  :-)
The car ESC is waterproof too

My Shannon in early testing took loads of water in but never suffered water on the important bits.

The tiller arm supplied has a rather large hole in it
So I ordered a 3mm one from Steve and drilled it out to 1/8

Lovely crisp woodwork Andy
One thought, is there room to
secure the Orange RX in the
vertical. A tad more range
perhaps.

Thank you Ned  :-))

I use these same receivers in my RG65 yacht and it doesn't seem to mind orientation but its only fastened with tape if the fail safe ever kicks in I'll try a different position. Just now its there because of a cross brace on my cabin that may in the end be a demountable unit.

A very big thank you to SLEC  O0 Laser-Cutting-Service.html I can now crack on. Once fitted and trimmed I need to bite the bullet and settle on a finish. I cannot fit the side sheets until the deck is finished and protected.

Here I have just made the cuts for the hatch and will completely dry fit before laminating to the original deck ply with a coat of Aliphatic wood glue

My DF65 has the same RX stuck
to the underside of the deck as
do all my yachts. Never a problem
with range on our large lake.

Thank you
That’s quite a bargain if you live over there  :-))
Nice pictures too and very timely ! as the plan does not show the location of the exhaust stack on the deck relative to keel line

Interesting that it has two forward speeds rather than proportional
Shows it’s age

:embarrassed:   It was the boys at SLEC that did the hard stuff. All I contributed was a computer file.

BTW "The Gentleman" and I got on very well, Andy!   :-))

Fantastic evening at Saltaire Brewery only £2 a pint and direct from the keg.

The new opening created in F1 thanks to the suggestion from Paul happens to be big enough to house a sound unit . The Sense innovations ESS dual has already been used on my Portgarth and Shannon.

Here the original prototype build that was probably the mutts nuts in its day and still holds it's own today

Interesting that at CADMA show today the lobster boat attracted far more interest than Portgarth  %%

Hi Andy having done many shows over the years its no surprise that people like to see models under construction. The prop looks good I picked four for the Yamato  from prop shop very good quality.

What I find amazing is just how many modellers have never heard of MAYHEM  %%
Many don't even use the internet. I keep saying it's all on the forum with hundreds or thousands of photos and they look so completely out of depth

In those other immortal words of Eric Morecambe You can't see the join .
At this stage I simply must decide on a deck finish. This needs to be complete and protected before any other work.

This is a lovely build and lovely kit too.  I cannot believe that its no longer manufactured its such a shame for our hobby.  As for the deck get some maple on it - it'll look amazing  :-))
