Andy
If you paint the hull cream then it really will look like it came out of the Wedgewood factory. Nice, though...

I have 4 tins of Rover Arum white that might look nice in gloss. The tug is all satin lacquered

Is that the colour of the superstructure on Portgarth?

I think the grey primer looks just fine. Authentic also. LB’s are usually no gloss finishes. When do you think you will splash it?

Great choice IMHO.

I did see the indoor launch...looked good. Actually I look forward to seeing it run.

Perfect day, barely a wind. Needed re priming anyway and should go darker with lacquer.
Once lacquered if I like it I'll sand off the faces of the hull protection strips then lacquer again over mahogany

Aah yes. It's only Wednesday so Lacquer tomorrow and if no changes she should sail Sunday even though there is still much to do the functionality is there

You might consider just scuffing the haul strips. Will make the strakes  look like they do after several hauls.

An idea but I don't do weathering and stuff and once you start where do you stop.
I have my own style of clean and crisp  :-))

Of course you should remain true to what is pleasing to your eye. I like to try to capture the reality of my builds. My sport fishermen have very little weathering since a charter boat captain would not obtain many customers with a boat that appeared to be worked very hard. Same with my modern day LB....since it is glass-hulled & easier to maintain they seldom look as weathered as the older wooden hull boats. I like my tugs to reflect the hard work they do everyday so weather them rather heavily.
All that said, diversity in how one interprets what they are building is to me a major plus when I think about our hobby. Good that we all view things through a different lense.

Looking forward to pics of your launch.

Thanks  {-)  the last 10% should last me while September  %%

Strakes sanded off and the whole hull will be re lacquered when the stern decals (Chris Gillespie) are applied.
Not sure about a waterline yet. I might add a black pin strip with tape and if I don't like it remove before lacquering
