Easy to print & build - trawler, tanker, and aircraft carrier
« on: August 07, 2022, 04:10:19 am »

In my eternal pursuit of The Minimum Viable Product(tm), I've thrown together a set of designs for a bit of a laugh. These egg-boats print neatly and use only the bare minimum of parts from the spares box, so won't run up a horrendous parts bill.
Two metal gear micro servos, two 18650s, a receiver, some tube and wire, and you're off to the races. I printed my tests in about 20 hours each and had them sailing two hours later so it's a fun wee toy for a weekend. It's not exactly high-end scale modelling, but it's occasionally nice to make things just for fun as well!

Hope they're of use to someone!

That I can't say for sure! I picked the three blade for my tests and it didn't seem to cause the motor to struggle at all. They're of course not going to be properly formed propellers, so efficiency gains are probably marginal and the boat has two enormous 18650s anyway, so the battery should last quite a while.

I've also just drawn and uploaded another superstructure form, this time of an aircraft carrier (the USS Leggsington... badum tss).

Nice photo with the sunlight. :-))
There is much truth in that,
but it's occasionally nice to make things just for fun as well!
