Cheap boat stand from mini camping stool
« on: May 21, 2019, 09:22:45 PM »

OK I'm a little bit lazy sometimes but have no tools, materials or workshop where I am at the moment, but I think this has worked quite well.  Collapsable camping stool from E-Bay makes a perfect 18" high boat cradle for me!  Collapses into a little bag about 75x250x50mm.  Can't really complain for just under 10 (though, I think the jiffy bag had a NL stamp on it which was a bit annoying when it's supposed to be UK).  I thought I'd have to modify it a bit -but it seems to work perfect so far, it's very stable!

With a slot cut in the fabric seat, to put the keel through, they make great stands for small yachts.
Seaside tat shops do them for a fiver or less

Yea, shame I'm a bit heavy to use it as a seat also.  I'm in France at the moment, as with everything round me, you don't want to know how much I've seen for similar things over here!  They're about a fiver on Ebay if you accept a couple less % off the feedback, but I've always been a looser with those folk so don't mind a few extra quid if I can't go and buy myself.  Still, works well so far.  I should have said it should work for a hull up to 200mm beam, might be a bit unstable for anything longer than 900mm though?
