Futaba FASST compatible receivers 2.4ghz
« on: May 23, 2019, 04:33:51 pm »

My Transmitter is a Futaba T6EX model, and it seems the old 4 channel receivers I used to use years back are no longer available, so am I doomed to have to pay exorbitant amounts for 7 and 8 channel receivers which I dont need or are there compatible ones which will serve my purpose.

I have never needed more than 4 channels and most models only the basic 2 channels

Any guidance and links to suppliers would be great

cheers
Andrew

I've tried Fr-Sky receivers which are FASST compatible in park fliers. Worked OK.

Recently I've bought a few secondhand Futaba 617 receivers on eBay for about £35 each.

Were the 4 channel receivers full-range? I've got a Futaba 6004 that I was going to try in a boat, but it says "for indoor use only", so the operating range is limited.

the old Futaba receivers when I last sailed boats 9 years ago were more than sufficient for the lake I used to sail on which was a good 150 yards plus long, never tried them on longer distances to that

cheers

I just looked on eBay. New FRSky FASST receivers are pushing £30 a pop. I think genuine secondhand is the way to go.

hi Andrew, I only use the frsky-tfr6 receivers. I own 7 of them & have used them in everything from a scale tug through sailing yachts (inc carbon fibre) to Hydro 1 fast electric. I have never had any issues what so ever with any module, except 1, but that did sink in salt water due to driver error.

There comes a time when you look at the cost of a receiver from one source, then discover that nowadays, you can get a suitable transmitter with a matching receiver, and a few extra recievers, for less than the cost of the original receiver.  Brand loyalty is fine, but sometimes.............

I quite agree. I sold all my Futaba radios a while ago, largely due to the price of extra receivers. I found this Futaba-compatible Rx for just over £20 and it's shown as In Stock in their UK warehouse. I've always had good service and reliable stuff from Hobby King https://hobbyking.com/en_us/frsky-tfr6-a-7ch-2-4ghz-receiver-futaba-fasst-compatible-horizontal-connectors.html
