my mates 12  volt 2 amp  charger has gone wrong can i use my 12 volt 5 amp  charger to charge his battery both sla  both 12 volt    thanks regiment

It will work fine, but will need a closer eye kept on it.  The higher current rating of the 5A one might cause the battery to fully charge a bit faster.  If it is a smart charger with the ability to sense when the battery is fully charged, no problem.  If it is a "dumb" charger, a little caution is good.

thanks to all who replied   it is a smart charger       regimentt    ps   weather here in perranpoorth not very nice
