HMS Sharpshooter
« on: September 27, 2007, 01:53:00 pm »

Despite the help of Chatham with the plans for "Gannet", I have been unable to obtain a set of lines and sections for the hull, so unfortunately that project has had to go on hold. Just as well really, as I was in two minds about tackling a fully-rigged ship in 1:48!

I'm now researching the 1888 "Sharpshooter" class of torpedo gunboats. These include the splendidly named "HMS Spanker" - surely no better reason to build a model than that!

I have a good set of lines (from the French MOD site http://www.servicehistorique.sga.defense.gouv.fr/02fonds-collections/banquedocuments/planbato/planbato/central.htm ), plus a lot of pictures from the internet and a sail/rigging plan from "The Sail & Steam Navy List".

However, you can never have too much information, so if anyone out there knows of other sources (other than the NMM), I'd be glad to hear from them.

Rick

PS: Here's a picture of one of the class - HMS Seagull
