That isn't Invincible. It's an earlier generation carrier depicted post war. R05 and its general appearance suggests it is a simplified representation of HMS Eagle in the 1950s before her major rebuild.

Correct answer Ned. It occured to me that one photographed might have been upgraded to the thru-deck one RO5 when she  entered service.

Are you the gentleman I saw all those years ago (35'ish), maybe in Linlithgow but not sure with the huge sit-in carrier?

Are those two photos of the same ship? They look completely different!

Colin  that was the question.   Did the naval workshop convert this hull RO5 configuration when the newer one entered  service  as we can`t see the hull  ?

I suppose it is possible but as it would have been done 40 years ago it might be difficult to establish the facts.

It might have been Rich.  If I was in Naval uniform then no. it was at Nairn Harbour Festival 1982-ish

Your original post specified Invincible which was clearly at odds with the photo which was s bit confusing really.

I thought when you acquired it there was no hull, it was just a deck for Naval days and you put the hull on.

No longbuild, it was a waterline model in some disrepair after some years on road and not highly detailed.   I added the hull below the waterline and fitted 5 HP engine. The whole hull to deck level was professionally fibreglassed .

Looking at your first post and the picture with the child on it, to me that looks a lot wider than your model.

Hard to judge Longbuild.   If we knew the scale of the aircraft that would be start. Pity the photo doesn't show more. There must be a history of these large PR model ships that went `round the country. There was a fleet  RN houseboats on the canals too.  Should be pictures somewhere, Fleetlands perhaps, do they have a library i wonder ?
