Hi , Chris

Props look nice  :-))  I agree with Akira the rudder servo May have more work and your right to change the current servo for a new one. But my personal view is a standard servo should be OK.

HI Dave yes AKira may have a point to a future problem regards that rudder servo but wont know till i try TIGER out on warship day on sept the 10th so till then its a wait an see job  as  could take her up sheringham pond but the water is a bit to high an as Tiger is a big model with a high S/S an mast it may get damaged due to the ponds concrete overhang but if bad wheather on sept the 10th warship day at Norwich then i'l be forced to take Tiger to sheringham providein i can get parked up due to holl makers cars takin up car parkin spaces  %) <:(
cheers

AN cheers to you m8 also yes lets hope she does sail ok as its not for the lack of tryin just hope wheather is good an not to high a wind as due to how big tiger is she catches the wind very easy an then difficult to controll from hittin the ponds side concrete walls

Chris......yes the larger propellers look good  %)

The extended rudder surface area to a degree is balanced around the rudder pintal shaft so with the push-pull with 2 equal length servo rods would appear sound, however we must remember the model is a relatively large & heavy mass  <*< resisting any moment in change of direction

Do you have independent motor control for Port & Stdb?........the full size Tiger had the capacity to stop, or reverse the pair of propellers on either side to accomplish a sharper turn........so have you considered this function or ability?....if you had this installed, Tiger could literally turn on a 'sixpence'....Action electronics have this controller

Looking forward to seeing Tiger on the water again :-))

HI Derek
yes i know its a mixer unit from components shop isnt it as they do the action parts  an ive had other modelers  tellin me to fit one but i dont know if it will do any good as the two props near the rudder are only about 3 inches apart so im not sure if it will do any good as i fitted one to my nimizt 9ft carrier

an that dint work at all i think the props should be a fair way apart before i will get any benefit from such a unit but thanks for your idea Derek an i'll have a look at how much one costs as i have components shop catalouge

cheers for your thoughts on the subject an if not to dear i'll get one an try it as im gettin deperate now as tiger is nr sendin me round the bend lol  PS IF i do go down this way it means i will have to alter all the motors wirein as its wired up one ESC to work the 2 motors nearets  the rudder an the the other ESC CONTROLS the two big motors at the back an if i go on this way i wont be able to have the cut off for the back motors for economy cruisein so i'll lose either way

Hi Chris
I use this method of steering on all my multi shaft boats but I don't use and gizmo mixer to achieve it, I  simply set them for what is known as tank steering, so port on left stick and starboard on right stick, then as Derek says you can sop and reverse on side and have other going forward as per real ship, as they did not have mixers .

It works a treat and costs nowt.

HI GUYS well i put tiger all togeather to tests all the workins an everything worked great then out of the blue another problem has rose its ugly head an thats one of the 3mm orange LED's in one gun barrel on the main 6 inch turret has i think has fused but it could be one of 3 things 1. the gun fire unit has gone faulty 2. or the resistor has failed or 3. the LED has fused so tommorrow it looks like i will have to open up the main gun turret to find out the problem Aaaccrrrhh just as well i made it so it all screwed togeather an can be stripped down but not lookin forward to it OH DEAR OR DO YOU GUYS THINK I SHOULD LEAVE IT TILL AFTER THE NEXT SAILIN ?

Hi Chris,

If it’s a quick fix then go ahead, however if it’s a bit tricky then do it after when you have more time  :-)) :-))

Hi Chris,

T888

HI Dave  {:-{  no its not a quick fix im afaid  as the wirein under the deck what feeds the LED's is very tightly fitted together so it wont get caught in the big turret gearrin as its turning the turret an tryin to find out which wire or if its the resistor or the led an if it is that then ive got to drill out the led in the gun barrel

an jen has offered to help me by holding the gun turret deck but one wrong slip an i coud damage the other led what works so yes its complex but i never thought id have this problem as led's are suppose to last thounds of hrs so yes i will do it after both shows that are comin up in sept an october then as you say i will have more time
cheers for stoppin an im enjoyin your type 26 build immensly keep up the good work sir  :-))

HI Dave here is a pic of that gun deck underside an you can see the 4 wires that go to work them led's  but beleive it or not but just treid it again an the damm led now works so  its either the resistor gettin hot an cuttin out  an will only work when cooled down or the led is faulty crazy anit but yes i'll leave it till i can strip it down proper an it is in the knock on postion to work against the knock on switch

Could there be a bit of dry joint in the circuit? I'm not questioning your soldering skills Chris  :embarrassed:

HI GUYS well over the week ive been tryin out them motors with the johnsons motors against them two monster motors an well i found with the big motors alot more wind thrust from the props than the johnsons so its all change again for about the 5th or 6th time as ive lost count so its all change an out come them johnsons an in go them other two monster motors an talk about the wind thrust off the bigger props now so now there are all 4 monster motors in her so these should move her an to help the steerin bigger rudder an ive now teid in the bow thruster to help her turn so when i hit the stick to turn the rudder the bow thruster comes in on auto to help steerin an pic of the all 4 big motors now fittered in her  AN Martin these are the motors you recommened to me so will see if they do the job

HI Guys well took tiger up Norwich pond on warship day an it was a paritshall success as the guys lifted her into the water an i then switched it all on an i asked my boaty mate Dave to hold on the bow to stop her from movein an well the prop thrust was a shock as it nearly pulled my mate into the water an he said Lord there is a heck of a thrust from Tigers propsso i said right push her out to the pond centre an WOW she took off like a bomb an then right in pond centre she blew her 30 amp fuses so as no wind i had to get a tuggy chap to push her back to pond edge well i was not impressed blasted fuses gone againSo i fitted in them 40 amp fuses an Tiger was off again an this time SHE SAILED GREAT an at only half throttle so the boys an jen got me some pics an she was turning at about only 20 ft turn instead of a 50 ft turn like last time she was tryin to sail SO the props were a success an the MOTORS an the rudder so it was all goin great for about 5 mins an then i found she would not turn hardly again so thought now whats the matter so brought her in an due to how hot the day was well because i was melting it was so HOT WOW SO i had a look inside her at the motors an notice one of the prop shafts was not turning AN DUE TO THE HEAT THE RED PLASTIC UNIVERSAL JIONT HAD OPENED UP an the METAL PINS HAD ALL DROPPED OUT OF THE MOUNTIN so no more sailing to day an has it was SO HOT i said to jen we will pack tiger back in the car an go home as the heat just drained us of energy an we left the pond at 13-30 hrs an i felt faint from the heat so put on the aircon in the car an pulled up on rd side to recover BOY IT WAS HOT an wont go again if its this hot any way some pics an my freind neil was vidoein her sailin so he said he will put her on U TUBE but when i dint know SO A SUCCESS OF A KIND IM PLEASED TO SAY but i was talkin to a chap with a big MTB an he shew me some metal ONES for high tourke prop shafts UNIVERSAL JIONTS so im goin to try an get some an replace the plastic univeral jionts
https://ibb.co/7JFnSkghttps://ibb.co/gPTNRmh
https://ibb.co/qyfyXGqan here she shot away from me an it was only half throttle AN Mirtin this is them motors you told me about boy are they powerfull https://ibb.co/yYsKRvTan sailin niceley at half throttle about walkin speed wow https://ibb.co/jrTdDHxhttps://ibb.co/ZhZ5N4yhttps://ibb.co/BwnNSdd

Hi Chris,
:-)) :-))

Sorry it didn’t go fully ok, but looking at your photos of the UJ, too me it look as the new motors may be to powerful the coupling an could be not strong enough to take the toque there putting out.
I use these but I’m not a great fan of them. The only time I’ve had this happen its been when prop has been jammed up with something caught in it.
Looking at the pic the lock nut looks as if it’s move or have you already started to dismantle the coupling .

HI DAVE no ive not tuched it yet but im keepin the motors in if poss as the other U/J are ok as this one may have been weak plastic so i will fit nother in an then try again at halve throttle an ive had the prop shaft slid down the outer tube so im hopein to tap it back up into postion an then try her again on the 8th of october at tug an steam day
