I love that work you have done on the hangar and think the doors working is extra special.

I think it is partly that last push to complete a model, where the challenges are past that make a project frustrating and annoying but also rewarding when you have solved the riddle of whatever was challenging you. That and time.

I am doing railings and that isn't very challenging  {:-{

HI
warspite yes they are on the real ship an if you look closely you can see the line across the door 's meaning to simulate the roller shutter door but each link on the doors is only about 1mm so it would be very difficult to make proper roller shutter doors hence my idea

I Thought it was, with time on my hands I was thinking of how to make a roller shutter door at 1/72, I have a similar helicopter hanger on a stalled rescue ship (its a cardboard prototype hull based on a castle class size hull).

I have a concept and will have a go at proving it when the current project is finished

OK
warspite  be nice to see your concept as I also had an idea of how to make one an that was usein the plasticard  with the groves goin across an usein a very fine sharp blade cut it in to strip an then gluein it to a very thin rubber backin to roll up an down on a round bar in the guide rails but I don't think its worth all the trouble much easyier my way an it opens an closes which is what I want it to do

Hi Chris

Excellent work, really enjoying your build and gives me inspiration for my Tiger (1/96 scale). Unfortunately my model requires some TLC but your build is stunning. :-))

HI
raflaunches   WOW its really nice to see another HMS TIGER on here an exscuse me for sayin but how come she needs the TLC whats she been  standin in a shed or something as my  HMS NORFOLK an HMS TIGER are all indoors  to keep them in nice condition as I have collectors wanting to buy them but ive said no but they say they are willing to wait but up to them. maybe in the future I may change my mind
But back to your model she is a beautifull model even as she is now with all the detail on her she must have been a really nice model when she was new an are you goin to give her that TLC an repenlish her up to new condition ? an may I download the picture for future reference to help me build my model  ? as on the plans it only shows so much its nothing like lookin at a real model that stands out in 3D you might say but many thanks for showin me the model

HI again
raflaunches  any chance of seein  a couple more pics from different angles an the flight deck an I see no nav lights fitted on her as ive been told by another gent on here where they are an to me it seem a weird postion to fit them but if they were there then that's where I will fit them  an is this ship a all scratchbuilt model or a GRP HULL  ? :-))

Hi Chris

The photo I attached to my last post makes the model look in a lot better condition than it really is unfortunately. I got the model last Saturday and I was told that when the previous modeller bought it the owner before had painted it rather heavily with paint and a brush, and stuck non standard bits to it. The last owner had tried to remove the paint but had struggled with it- I don’t blame him either, I have removed paint from the superstructure and it took me three batteries and 20 coarse abrasive pads on an orbital sander to get to bare wood!
It’s all scratchbuilt and won awards in Scotland many years ago but I have had to carefully remove the surviving detail and get the paint off so it doesn’t look like the picture I posted before anymore!
I have been given some pictures and I’ll have a look through them tonight of the real Tiger and I’ll let you know what I find.
I’ve tried to attach some pictures to this post but my ICloud is messing around so I’ll try tonight to upload some pictures of my model. :-))

All the best
Nick
