Beautiful work Chris. I've been following this build since I joined Model Boat Mayhem a few years ago. Looking forward to more installments of your progress and completion, with sea trials.

Cheers,

Hey Chris, (Frogman) I am very pleased to see you are still posting up progress of your build. I think we would have been more upset if just a little bit of computer tinkering put you off keeping us abreast of your work  :}

I am pleased you have managed to master the arcane science of uploading images, and we can see the beautiful work up close. Funnels are deceptively complicated beasts. I could not believe how many pipes and stays and brackets and cages and whistles etc ships funnels have, and that is just on Destroyer funnels! I remember a fellow Mayhemist showing off his build of Richelieu a few years back, and seeing the platforms and ladders inside  %%  It might have been Dave Wooley's Russian aircraft carrier actually, but both ships funnels were major modelling projects in their own rights.

This was interesting as it shows the use of the framework on the funnel top as a spreader for a cover, and also hints at the complexities of the funnel structure.

Keep up the good work Chris, and we will see loads of great progress throughout 2021  :-))

Navy Gets 'tiger' (1959) - YouTube

The above link is for a short video showing haw effective the 6" and 3" automatic guns on the three Tiger class cruisers were when they worked
Questions also asked about the early box art for the Airfix kit of Tiger when she was gun cruiser, as red and white badge was seen on the forrard funnel, this may have been a Squadron badge but if it was it did not remain long

HI GUYS another small update on this big rear funnell an now its about 80per cent built but im not happy with the the funnell pipes as they are bendy drink straws as i tried to use the right size plastic pipes but the bends are to sharp an an heating up the pipes they just split or cracked so drink straws it is but hopefully they wont be seen much as there are the missle directors in front of them on the deck an i fitted some anti /collishion lights as the big funnel is out on the deck away from the rear mast so been havin fun building these now first linkpic

Hi Chris

Fantastic as always-on your lower black straw that goes to the square vent you’ve got some rings going around it- are they wire or plastic card? If it’s plastic card it’s incredibly fine workmanship to get it to fit so nicely.

It’s very good, because the wire looked white in colour I thought it could be plastic card. Looks brilliant- keep up the excellent work.

NEXT UP is fitting the front funnell now this one will be the hardest as this will be a steamer from the smoke or steam unit but to get this all fitted an workin i will have to do some surgery on the main S/S as the steam pipe must fit exctact to the steam unit so when i lift off the main bridge S/S to put in the main drive batt its got to drop dead on the steam unit so the steam pipe will  have to be built in dead on for a fit OH THIS WILL BE A CHALLANGE  %)
