Any one has contact Mr. G. T. Sitek ?
« on: September 28, 2007, 03:20:43 am »

Hello guys,

Does any one here have contact with Mr. G. T. Sitek of "G.T.Sitek Scale Brass Propellers" lately ? I lost contact with him for three month though I kept emailing and even had one letter sent. Does any know if something happened to him or his company ?

Regards,

Douglas

It says his site was updated 19th June 2007. but for some company's it can be two years since update .  I use prop shop and just order as soon as I start the build , gives them a chance to arrive.

Yes, it was almost the time I made a deal with him for two 40mm props for my 1/128 USS Lassen. He told me online payment system would be ready in two to three weeks so I wait and wait and wait........... and ever since I lost contact with him.

Don't worry Douglass he is still going strong, I do know he has been away the last couple of days, but, he is still there.

I had a problem with getting in touch. Eventually succeeded on this email: propsgtsitek@yahoo.com and found him very helpful

I've always found him very helpful, but I do send my orders by mail enclosing a cheque. I don't think he is really into electronic communication and payment systems.

Yes, Paul, Rick and Barrie, I do agree he is a very helpful person, simple he said yes to my request for a tailor made modern warship propeller at a very very reasonable price. It is just I lost contact. May be I should try sending another letter, with my mailing address instead of email address.

If anyone of you so happened to talk to him, please relay my message that I would like to send her cheque to confirm my order.

I just received an order from him today, so I guess all is ok. It took 7 days from order to delivery, think because it was made to order.

If thats the case what chance he has Skype. Calling a landline on Skype costs - don't know how much ::)

OK Doug yes it not free but it's  £ 0.012   per min to call there, so the return will not be that much more. I cal Perth in AUS every couple of days to a mobile and its 11P a min  it would cost double that to phone one in the UK. and its nice and clear , tried a land line a few times and the delay was dreadfull and cost a small fortune.

It is not quite expensive to call from here either. It is just I thought it would be easier for George to reply email, whenever he likes, not in a hurry.

I will call as you guys suggested. Thanks.

I made a couple of calls in the past two days, from 1700 hrs to 2400 hrs (Hong Kong time), minus 8 hours for London time - 0900 hrs to 1700 hrs, but no goal in reaching George.

Like a miracle that I got his email this morning.

Well, life is like a box of chocolate..................

I have been trying to order some special props and A frames from him since early May.   On 6 July I received the following response from them . . .

"With reference to your enquiry. Please be advised that Mr. Sitek is not at here presently. He has semi- retired but will be working on a reduced level once he gets back from visiting family."

We are now almost into August and I have heard nothing since.  Looks like the website has not been updated for some time.

Total unknown... I once tried to order another set of 90mm kort props off him and got the reply 'sorry don't make them over 60mm'. My reply was 'then why is there a 90mm prop of yours on the bottom of my boat?'

I have tried various ways of contacting George but have had no reply at all. The only way I haven't tried is the telephone. Does anyone know of a phone number for him as I desperately need a replacement prop (Lost the blasted thing by not tightening the lock nut enough - anyone else done that, don't all shout "yes" at once!) and I don't fancy having to order a complete set of 4 from Prop Shop at their prices.

I could be wrong Narrowboater - but I think George is now atleast sem-retired. He does still run the business and produce all the same gear though. My last order was only in November/December just gone but took around 21 days I think, thankfully I wasn't in a great rush as it's for a Type 42 destroyer I have going on behind everything else!
Not sure if anyone else can elaborate there. But either way, i'm sure he will be able to replace your prop  :-))
