Re Lydl Yacht before I buy
« on: September 30, 2007, 01:04:55 pm »

Anyone tell me what material the hull and also the deck are made from ?
also is it possible to add lead weight to keel inside or out or make a bulb keel,
without modifying depth of fin, so it will stay upright in a stronger wind ?
I know mods about changing battery pack and site lower, also better sails
and adjust linkage on servoes change rx switch etc.

Cheers dazzle

dazzle I have 3 of those, and yes the sails are crap but thats an easy fix, the radio gear itself is prety good as well, (120m range is no issue).

http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=4131.0 this is the thread for the lidl boat.

once you get a good set of sails on it, it goes from something looking pretty to something that will actually sail, if you get the sails set up correctly, it sails pretty well, mine are not set up brilliantly, though if wind isnt too strong, she will sail :)

Thanks Ghost
I had read that thread all ready, plus the rc groups thread as well.

But I need to know what the hull is made from ?

ie styrene or plastic etc

As never have I had any success attempting to glue or attach anything to plastic
type materials

Best Regards dazzle

Is a very nice job you have done on that boat,
I have been getting withdrawal syptoms from my first marblehead, bought just the complete hull
from jumble sale in 1963 and I made the mast, booms and sails, vane steering etc.
not alowed to race it at the time as bulb keels were barred by mpba coz they were faster.
so gave it away to a friend and regretted ever since

it may also be a good idea to crack the transmitter open, the's two screws in the carry handle, 4 in the maini body of the case, once inside, remove the spring and rocker arm that form the self-centre action of the sail spring, this will enable you to set the sails and leave them there.
