I was looking for some 1/72 scale cargo/vehicles to go in and on my four ways cargo ship.
I knew I had some Plastic Soldier tanks and half tracks, they are simplified wargaming kits, still detailed enough for my purposes, and you usually get 3 tanks per box, for about same price as one airfix or revell tank.
Once they are painted, they look better than my homemade crates for my cargo ship. I found a box marked 1/72 stuff, inside were the boxes they came in, but no models.....
Typical, but one good thing came out of it, in the box I found a small box I have been looking for years, it contains the rest of the detail parts I made for Stihac Panorek (it is 1/72 scale, so it was in the correct box!? 😁) , theres not a lot but I have a captain, a surrendering german, some eyelet portholes, anti aircraft guns, crudely made using panel pins and balsa, and a couple of big life rafty things. It all helps though, especially as I dont have to think 'where did I put that?' any more. 😁
I am laid up at the moment so I am looking for little projects I can do in the house from the couch, without taking 2 and 3 foot models into the house.
I love the shape of the Stihac Panorek, I hope to have it running next, still got fair bit to do before that happens, first might be a better crane attempt.
Stihac is the same scale as my cargo ship, so to have them both sailing at once would be good, at a distance obviously.... 😁 my detailing isnt a patch on some of the guys on here, and my budget doesnt stretch to buying much in the way of nice fittings. I do get a lot of pleasure from scratch building stuff, especially if it uses up materials I already have.
Nice railings make a model, but for my purposes, I really need to leave off as much breakable stuff as I can, as my models sometimes go in a box in a rucksack for cycling to the closest bit of river. My cargo ship is a bit big for that tho, it needed to be car transported to a different bit of the river than usual.
Well happy that my Stihac Panorek build can continue, that has cheered me up a bit at a very challenging time. I will post progress as I manage it.
Now where did I put those tanks....... 😁
