With France having 45 degree days.   Now is the time to get into the lake with your model boat.  :embarrassed:

Only in the low 20's up North.
Hot sun is bad for model boats. Fortunately tomorrow for Balne Moor open day it will be cooler and cloudy  :-))

Dunno how you guys in AUS can handle it. I work in France, we hit 39oC this afternoon coming home from IKEA near Versailles. Horrid heat, I was back in Edinburgh last Monday night, 15oC and taxi drove through 10" of flooding leaving the airport!  Ironically, they've turned the AC up in our office this week, first time my desk has been much below 28oC for at least 2 months now!!

Hi All,
I think we hit 32c plus here in Lincolnshire this afternoon and I was doing Daughters garage while she went to a BBQ, at 37 she's still my little girl  so off for a cool shower now.
                   Regards Howard.

Much cooler here now and I can see the muggy air massing and coming from the East as a Prelude to a lot of rain

Hi the thermometer in my workshop reads 38 degsC or 100 degs F,  welcome to sunny Watford!
Starting to cool down now might do some work later.

Just phoned my Mother in Falkirk and they've had thunderstorms this afternoon, really dark this evening apparently.

Workshop hit 44.7 this afternoon. Currently a balmy 40.2 - and that's at half past eight in the evening AND north of the Trent (well - about two miles north of it...). Guess how much work was done in there today?

Now just think that this is what RAF Akrotiri is like all the time during the summer months- sometimes worse! Glad I’m not going there this year but seems that it’s decided to visit me instead! 8)

I suppose we are used to it although, as I get older it's the humidity that affects me most. On the other side of the equation, in my part of the country we think it's cold once the temperature drops below about 16C. We have had a couple of mornings of near zero lately, quite a few around 5 or 6, and we are classed as sub-tropical. My shed is quite big, 12 metres by 6 metres, steel clad, and sometimes in the summer it's just too hot to work in comfortably, although fans do help.

Hello Peter, sounds like your toilet is bigger than my shed!  My trouble is that I spread out to occupy all available space so I still would not be able to find things!

My son, currently visiting, echoes your sentiments on temperature.

Great photos? Friday, my mission was not to get in the lake!

Perfect winds, warm sunshine - and at Waterhead, Ambleside, a jetty leading to cold, cold pints of San Miguel. Perfect!

(The boat, incidentally, is my 1:1 scale Wayfarer.)

Hi Dreadnought, I learnt to sail on a Wayfarer many years ago in Poole Dorset.  Our instructor did not understand how I managed to pick up the sailing so quickly, later I confessed to sailing model yachts for several years.
We did the capsize recovery in April and by golly that water was cold.

Roy, the Wayfarer (I now realise) is all I wanted in a boat ... I spent years sailing Enterprises, and needed something just a bit bigger, training-friendly, truly seaworthy & (for a dinghy) stable. Mertensia's it.

"A seaworthy dinghy?" some might ask. Sixty-year-old Wayfarer Nipegegi finished, tonight, a fifteen day and four hours sail around mainland Britain without stopping or replenishment. Quite an adventure: I suspect it's a record that'll stand for some time.
