Lesro Tid Tug
« on: July 07, 2019, 03:15:11 pm »

Hi All
I Started to build a Lesro Tid tug about 10 years ago. Can't remember why but it got put to one side and left in the back of the shed. Just had a clear out of the shed and came across it again. The hull and superstructure are finished and the rudder and shaft have been fitted.
The problem I have is that the instructions have gone missing. I have no motor for it and no idea how the servo gets attached to the rudder as the rudder arm is above the deck. Also not sure what scale it is. I think it may be 1/48th and I would like to get some crew for it. Any information appreciated.

I know its a long shot, but has anyone got a copy of the original instructions. I would be willing to buy them or pay for a photo copy. I have tried to post a couple of photo's, but for what ever reason it wont let me login to upload them.

ThanksAlan :-))

Rudder connected above deck, I run mine on two ni-cad cells so that tells you the size of motor, runs quite well and turns on a sixpence, nemesis

Thanks Nemesis for the reply.
Not sure how to position the servo. Haven't dabbled with boats for years so completely out of touch on things like batteries and motors. But thanks for the reply.

About 1/40 scale, like Vic Smeed’s Tiddler plan, which I think was the basis of the kit. TID tugs were 65ft long, so 1/48 would give a boat 16.25” long.

Hi Martin
Thanks for the reply. Just a copy would do if you have it. I would be willing to cover any costs and postage. I have tried to upload some photo's but for some reason it keeps saying I have entered the incorrect details? Thanks again for the reply.

O-gauge is very close at 1/43, and lots of cheap figures available on ebay etc.

Hi All
Further to my previous message. Has anyone built this and if so, what size motor did you use. Still trying to find instructions and plan for this as the back end needs a cover and no idea how this fits.

Any information appreciated.
Thanks

Lots of motors suitable, depends on a few things. Desired speed of craft, diameter and pitch of prop, direct drive or geared, brushed or brushless.

Similar but better quality motor to what was originally supplied. I would suggest the RE280/5 on 4.8v or 6v.
