Setting up Flysky i6 for forward/reverse
« on: July 03, 2019, 09:23:35 pm »

I've been using an i6 for my DF65 and I'm very pleased with it.
I've now bought a second set for use with a Sea Queen that I'm building, thinking that I will keep one set for sailing yachts and one for power boats.
Now, the set used for power boats will have the L/H stick controlling the ESC and I'll be wanting both forward and reverse control, something that obviously didn't apply on the yacht.  How do I go about setting up the L/H stick to give motor control in both directions?

The video is all about flying models, same as the Flysky manual.  Not an issue with yachts as, like aircraft, they don't have a forward/reverse function.  I would still like to know how to set up reversing for a power boat.

Normally the throttle stick is in neutral when centred
To go forwards push forwards
To go backwards pull backwards
You should read any instructions supplied with the ESC
Some ESC’s don’t have reverse

OK - Thanks.  So when I connect in the ESC (which does have reverse) the neutral (zero) position will automatically default to the centre - have I got that right?   (This is obviously different to what it has been so far with my yacht.)  If it's that easy I'm a happy bunny.

I have the Flysky i6, it came with the left stick that didn't self-centre. To be able to use it for forward/reverse I had to modify it with a kit bought from China. Once installed it worked OK. The kit wasn't expensive but took several weeks to arrive.

I have a spare kit if you are desperate.

Both sticks without self centering?

I use my i6 for drones and powered boats. The escs that have reverse just need you to center the throttle before you turn the power on in the boat and it will read the neutral position of the stick. Never had to worry about self centering on the stick as I use the end point adjustments to scale the speed and practice with the drones makes my thumbs pretty quick on the brakes.

the self centering kit can be bought in the ul, just takes a  it of hunting. just purchased 3 for my stock.
the reason for 2 txs is common in boats. yachts use a left hand ratchet for sail trimming, and powered boats should be self centering, so you let go and the boat in theory cruises to a halt
