Does this option exist?
« on: July 13, 2019, 06:03:35 pm »

Hi all.
New member, new hobby, new to me RC yacht, new club, new mental confusion?
I have acquired a DF 65 with a standard Joysway transmitter J4C12. T
hanks to members of Rugeley model boat club they got it sailing in half an hour. Just down to me now to get a handle on things.
My question, is it possible to switch the standard functions of the joysticks so that the rudder is on left stick and sail servo on the right? Maybe just the way my brain is wired but would like to try if possible even if it doesn't work for me and needs reversing again.
Possible with transmitter I have or new one required?
Thanks in advance. Cheers Ken.

If it’s a standard transmitter and receiver set up then all you need to do is swap the channel 1 (rudder) with whatever the sail winch is plugged into on the receiver. Swapping them is easy just pull out and swap positions making sure that the three colours of cable match the +- and signal positions of the previous setup. That’ll change the rudder to your left stick and your sail winch to the right stick.

It should be possible by rearranging which servos are plugged in to which sockets on the Receiver.  There should be 5 or 6 sockets on the Rx (receiver) each responds to a stick and position on the Tx (Transmitter).  You should be able to change the stick functions on the Tx by shuffling the servos positions.

Yes, it is possible by simply swapping the leads where they are plugged into the receiver inside the boat.  But you really want the rudder to be a centre-sprung stick so you don't have to keep tweaking it to get the boat to run straight. And the sails definitely do not want to be centre-sprung, you want the stick to stay where you put it.  I don't know the Joysway transmitter, and I am assuming it has a sprung rudder stick and a non-sprung sail control. You would need to do some internal fiddling with the transmitter to move the spring from one to the other.  On balance, I would try and get used to sails on the left, rudder on the right.  It's what everybody else does.

Thanks so far guys, lots to think on and investigate.

Also in my strange wiring it would seem to be more logical to pull the stick back to tighten the sails?

I always set up yachts so pushing the LH stick down pulled the sails in, pushing it up let them out. I think from what you're saying your current set up goes the other way. If that's the case then you can usually reverse the direction of servo travel from the transmitter to get what you want. Never used a Joysway TX so I'm afraid I can't be specific on how to do this.

That's how I do my sails Ralph,in towards my body, brings the sails in
away from the body takes sails out.
That way I,ll remember.
