Can anyone tell me what capacitors I need for a 540 brushed motor .

if anyone can provide an eBay link where I can buy some that would be most helpful

Fit one 0.1uF - 0.47uF across the motor terminals. Ceramic disc types are cheapest, but don't use an electrolytic type because they are polarity-sensitive. You can also fit a 0.01uF capacitor between each motor terminal and the motor case. A suitable kit is here https://www.componentshop.co.uk/small-rfi-kit.html

Hi, sometimes marked 104 for value, you need 50 volt working or greater, most are 50volt+.  They are incredibly cheap if you have a component shop nearby, I used to buy in units of 100 and they were 2p each cap.
Some of the more expensive 540's have internal suppression capacitors already fitted.  I have found that if it all works at 30 odd feet but then there is stuttering at further distances then fitting the caps from motor terminal to motor body will sort this out.
As far as I know you do not have to worry for 2.4 Ghtz, but you might cause problems for someone closeby who isn't.

I have also come across a Graupner 540 size motor with the speed controller built in so there is a servo lead coming from the motor as well.

Hi I agree but it is a lot of money to pay for a cheap capacitor!
Just checked my spares boxes.  I have more than enough for me.  Cap, 0,01 micro farad 50 volt working.
If you send me a self addressed envelope I will send you half a dozen, no charge.

If this OK  I will PM my address to you.  Anyway today is my birthday!
all the best
