Thanks for the link Bill.
I have a second unbuilt kit on its way to me I cannot see the point of changing the scale to 1:16 and there's nothing about the midwest that cannot be changed by the builder during construction as many did and do without any expense or additional parts . I wonder what the price point is

Better to improve the brand than just release a re-scaled copy of a past release. If I remember correctly, Midwest produced two different scale Lobster Boats anyway.

Yes I have them both  :-))

I'd rather see the MidWest re released with better instructions for modern times

If my memory is correct  when I purchased my model 30 years ago the scale of the model was 1/12  or 1in to the foot. So why is the new model going to be 1/16 scale?

Not sure Stan but Frank is going to ask. That may be an error as the dimensions are very similar. However as I've pointed out in their thread I don't think Dumas have captured that beautiful hull shape.

I don't think its a winning formula

The very best and the very worst of wooden model boat kits I've ever handled were respectively from Midwest and Dumas - in that order. I would need to look long and hard at any Dumas product before I was persuaded to part with my money. As Andy says, the hull shape of their version looks weird in plan view at the stern, unless that photo is distorted.
Anyroad up, m'ducks, I have an original Midwest kit - so  ;D !!

 :-))
I have three  8)
The untouched one en route will be used to transfer onto new wood so I can keep it unbuilt.

From the pictures so far I would not go anywhere near it.

I also think that access in mine is better than their attempt to improve it

Well all I can say mine is definitely from Midwest.

Hi all this is mine undergoing its sea trials today after a very long repair job. It looks like we may see lots of these models appearing in 2019.

I sent an email to dumas about the prototype’s yacht-like appearance. Will be interesting to see if and how they reply.

To be honest they’ve tried to copy a Swan and produced a pig  {-)  and access to the motor is worse

Andy,
I also noticed the poor motor access. Will mention it when/if they reply. I agree with the poster that said he did not much like the dumas kit’s. However I have heard they greatly improved their quality & quality control.
