Not yet.

I am making good progress on another long term project, but that has stalled while I build and paint some sample models for my range of military kits and figures. The ressurgant show season beckons.

I hope to complete the long term project next year and then tidy away it's excess parts and gubbins and then consider where to go next.
I have several model boat projects under way with one actually really near completion, I mean its railings, flags and bigger props near!

Funds may well be a problem next year so things may be cut back to hulls and completing projects rather than be stereotypically hobbyist, starting new projects every few months. There's no harm with that, and it is one facet of a hobby which is as valid as building one at a time with no deviations, but one has to be sure of their budgetting  :D

Sorry for the long topic hi-jack there!

Thats fine Ian, just pleased to hear from you and that your OK.

Yes budgets and funding will be in short supply for the up coming time, but with making my own fittings and running gear, my modelling is a little protected. Also that I have several GRP hulls /projects awaiting, so know out laying there. It just time %% %%

Don’t talk to me about railings  {:-{  been awaiting a long time for PE railings for this project and now will be looking at making my own.

Joys of modelling  :-)) :-)) :-))

Hi Chris,
Each fret holds 150 x 5 hole stanchions, 150 x 3 hole stanchions, 75 x 2 hole angled mast stanchions, 150 x 2 hole stanchions and 15 davit stanchion. The mast ones will be the first to be fitted, also I’m hoping as they are nickel they will be stronger that brass.

Hi T888;

Take enough time to get a best finish.!!!! :-))
I do understand your present feeling very much and go through slowly and securely to plant each stanchion.!!

At least your stanchion are 1/72 and three holed, I thought the two hole angle mast ones were a pain, but these five hole at 96 have been a real work up. >>:-(

YEA Dave these stantions all are a pain but in not fitting my main deck ones till after the first sail as i want to find out if i need that keel weight if i do then its a simple matter of just turning the hull upside down an fitting it but you are doin a fanstatic job keep it goin

I love that bridge assembly! Gorgeous in every way.

Good luck with the stanchions. I think mine will need some struts soldered on to keep things taut as they go around curves and want to lean inwards etc.

Thank you Ian,

The stanchions on the actual ship/USN are very untidy, un-uniformed (The Stb side of the aft superstructure has 5 hole stanchions the Port side has two and three hole  :D ) and they also angle inboard, unlike the Royal Navy ship stanchion which tidy uniformed

That's interesting Dave. I suppose they are meant to fold down at any point for action and maybe they use a different fixing system that our RN do.

Ian,

Some of the two holed units fold out board 180drg and rest on supports, some of the five hole are hinged and fold at hole three. But they also have Two, Three and five hole fixed, it also looks like the USN does not like Or no how the bend curves  {-)
