I love those Phalanx systems Dave! Just like the real thing but squoze small.

Secondly, you have made great progress on the helicopter moving system  :-))  It looks very neat and efficient.

As for working doors, they will lack the weight of the real things to get them to lower smoothly unless you make the lower one heavy. Maybe make it out of brass plate? I reckon using a winch to raise the doors would be similar in scope to what you are ding with the helo thing using a winch and runners but without magnets.

Hi Ian
Thanks for your comments, Weíre thinking on the same lines with Regarding the hanger doors.

I have been playing with 6mm x .75mm brass strips. Issues are, hinges, how to trip the door section so they fold as the real doors seem to have a central pivot so they are 50% in the hanger and the operating method.

Will have a play and see what come of it. {:-{

Yes there is always people ready to help others on MBM.

However your method would not work on this set up as I donít have the space.

Was trying to figure out this problem - if it was a roller shutter it would be easier.

Could I ask how big the opening is on your hanger, each door is as you say 6 mm deep, I would assume like a Venetian blind as the bottom one is lifted it pulls it closed against the next one up and then this couple pushes up the next one that pushes up the next and so on.

Hi Warspite,
The hangar door H=47mm W= 46 there is 5 1/2 sections to the door So 5 off section is 8.5mm + 1 x 4.5  (Not 6mm as post before)

Thanks Chris,
This working function has been a real pain, I have been looking at what Iíd need to do to have working hanger doors. But on these ships the door fold up in four sections, not got my head around how to make this work.

Am I right in that it is 6 doors, in the photo it looks like 3 sets of hinges ?

If Martin wouldnít mind Iíll send him a short video of the helo travelling in and Out of the Hangar. If he would be so kind as to upload it the this thread. Thanks

Given that you have seen the issue and have a solution to it, that looks amazing Dave! I can envisage that performing whilst under power on the lake  :-))

For your concertina doors, if you have counterweights on arms that pull the relevant sections of door inwards then that will force the set of doors to conform to the concertina as they rise. If the cable system pulls both ways then the counterweights can be pulled down with assistance from the brass sections weight.

I would make the arms slanted backwards to improve the action of the weights.
You will need weights that don't touch when the door is folded!

Thanks Chris,
Happy that I got it sorted in the end. Iíve added a third roller which has smoothed the movement out.

Now Iím  working on the doors and in side detailing.
