Hi Tarnis  this is my brass etch bending tool not the cheapest but well worth the money and was bought locally. You may be able to get it cheaper on line. Just been using it to bend the wipers on my Grand Banks

The build at the moment is almost at a standstill and will be for around 2 weeks. I may have chance to snatch the odd hour.

The rear section of the cabin is now finished and glazed. Working on some more detail for this section. Just a few pictures showing the this area and the dinghy made from 3/4 in balsa dowel  the covered in glass tissues and resin.

All the new hand rails are rebuilt they need tidying up and then cleaned with a metal cleaner. After that a brass etch primer will be applied and they will be left for 3 days to dry. Last picture is the rib but not happy with the grey scheme now back in white primer for the moment. I intend to try various  chrome finishes on a scrap piece of brass to get the best finish.

Have you looked at some of the chrome paints used in the full size custom industry.https://www.stardustcolors.co.uk/chrome-paint/141-chrome-effect.htmlHave never used it but it looks like a really good finish although very expensive.

I bought a Humbrol tinlet of so called Chrome paint despite thoroughly mixing it I saw no difference to their Silver paint.

HI Guys looking at chrome pens by Molotow and chrome plaint by Alclad. I have contacted Molotow now awaiting a reply. While all this going will be back on the build next week. It is certainly 1 step forward and 50 back with this model.

HI  just a quick update on tests carried out. The chrome pen worked fine but even after allowing a long time to dry it still lost its shine when handled. The chrome paint used by plastic model builders also did not work very well. After a visit to my local model shop today I found a  further silver paint  which I will try and feed back the results.

Good morning all from soon to be in tier 3 lockdown. I have tried numerous chrome paints  and i have to say I have some good results  but they tend to fail when a varnish is applied. Some tend to go dull just by touching even before a top coat is applied. At the present I am testing a further paint which can be applied by brush and dries totally after 24 hrs. Earlier tests using this paint shows it also does not like enamel based varnish so the next step is to use an acrylic based varnish more to follow.
