If you are prescribed tablets to calm you down, and reduce your blood pressure, why do they make the boxes so hard to open?

Easy answer a big hammer. I have say trying to open plastic packing is a nightmare I normally have to resort to the Stanley knife.

It’s not just restricted to tablets either!

Some of the aircraft spares we received came in a big plastic bag (easy to open), a paper bag (easy to open) and finally a plastic vinyl bag (we had to use our teeth to rip it open!!! It was that tough!) and we had six of them to fit! %%

My mother used to have a fit when I was young and she saw me tearing things with my teeth.

....Beware of doing it when you're older though!  I was on a job a cpl of years ago and tore a plastic bag of pipe fittings open.  A teeny-tiny bit of the bag stuck on that little dangly bit at the back of my mouth.  I hacked and choked before throwing up half blue, it was only a tiny bit of the bag, smaller than a pea!  Don't trust anyone around you to recognise anyone choking!

Mate had a reportable incident on site due to someone trying to open a bag with their teeth !!! - paperwork was a killer.

Tonsils are the big balls on either side at the very back of your teeth-ish?  The bits that docs have no sympathy with these days.

Most embarrassing to ask the young Lady in the next seat if she could help, so I always carry a plastic pen in my jacket to pierce the package

What gets me is the tablets in a plastic film that when I finally get the film pack open, the tablet pops out never to be seen again

Yes, that invisible eject mechanism is pure evil.  I bet the boss of the guy who invented it had a really fancy chair and a white cat.
Sometimes the mechanism fails and hacks the pill down to powder.

Why is it that when opening a box of tablets it's always the end with the patient notes folded over ?I now mark my tablet boxes with a marker pen.

Why not just put the notes into the opposite end?  %%

Some boxes open both ends and look the same at either end. When marked with a 'blob' it's quicker to pick up the box, and simply open end with black 'blob'.Mornings are too much hassle without any mental three dimensional box orientation required. ;D

I'm on 3 tablets a day and self administered injections until I expire - therefore I thought I'd be clever and buy a snazzy weekly pill organizer box, the type with 7 trap doors - great idea, thinks I !

Once wrestled out of of the box, I cut my tablets off the plastic backing carrier with scissors and place them in individual daily compartments - works a treat !!

Collected my latest batch of tablets and the dreaded packaging's changed - now requires a scalpel to cut down the hair-line gaps between vac formed bubbles containing the tablets, then the new plastic bubble is too big to fit in my nice pill organizer -
there's progress !!!

While we're on the subject -
what about the little plastic snappy devices that are supposed to cut your tablets in half !??  Paul

Ah! But how do you remember whether the blob indicates the end with the notes or the end without them?? I'm with Mr Zippy ref the pill organiser.......and I chuck the notes away as soon as I've opened the box. Read them?? Nah! I'm waiting until they release them on DVD......

The notes all say the same:

'This medication may cause innumerable side effects of increasing toxicity up to and occasionally exceeding immediate death.'

My Interferon side effects are hilarious - the destructions state "medication can cause suicidal tendencies, actual suicides and a danger to other people" - wonderful !
