Yes another Imara
« on: August 29, 2019, 04:30:25 pm »

G'day to all the members, I bought this Imara from West Bourne Models when I was visiting my brother in England six years ago, and have slowly been building it since then, the main obstacle was identifying the parts and the instructions, also the instructions say one thing and the plans show something else, but apart from all this I think it is a fantastic kit and have had tremendous enjoyment in building her, I am approx three quarters of the way through building her so this is more of a catch up build log, I do not have all the photo's from the start of the build as I lost some when a forum I was on crashed, so I start off with the hull and some of the superstructure started,

  best regards John,

I'm not sure how to edit a post, I meant to say that for the mast I made it up from various diameters of brass tube, there are no photo's available from before these,

A view of the rear of the boiler casing, you will notice that where the lifeboats sit I have added some plywood, this is because on these area's on both sides the fiberglass was very thin, so I added the ply for strength,

Awesome, John! Thank you for sharing your images. Always helpful for other builders like myself for reference and inspiration.
Very neat woodwork on the saloon area  O0

some pics of the towing rope supports, I made them up as per the instructions by laminating them over the template ,and for securing the supports in place I drilled through thr ends of the securing plate and the support beam and placed a eye bolt through them both,
