what a beauty!
« on: August 30, 2019, 09:52:59 pm »

check this, in the flesh its jaw dropping !

On a boat trip out of San Antonio bay Ibiza, this was hiding in a small cove. The boat trip circled it, we where watched by a couple, of guys that appeared from the rear on matching black jet bikes, it was like a scene from a Bond movie, all looking very sinister.

I tried googling to see who owned it, but couldn't find anything

Well it looks like its registered in Malta going by the flag on the stern, and the number of shaded areas suggest its decks get Damn hot due to it being black - thats probably why most are white - duh

Who paints something black when it's designed to be in the blazing sun?     I'll bet you can't touch anything on that boat and I'll bet they have lots of electrical failures due to over-temping all the systems and expansion problems.   We had a black hire car in Florida once - couldn't even touch the door handles - and the inside black leather was untouchable - had to start it up and stand near it until the air-con managed to lower the temperature to something less than Lava - still couldn't hold the steering wheel properly.

It's said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. That must be true in the case of this boat - I think it's unspeakably horrible!

Must be a bind not having any shops near.  Looks like they're having to fish for their lunch.  OK if you are into seafood.

Some people have just to much money.
Wonder if it is plank on frame?

This is of a similar ilk that we saw anchored off-shore when we went to Croatia in May. Not very pretty but impressive. At least it's not black!

You don't have one ?  It's a Mangusta 165 E, available for only £9,500,000 second hand from any broker.
Mine is a white one, just the basic model - https://www.mangustayachts.com/en/yacht/maxi-open-165e

Nah, once they start asking over £9m. I don't see the value for money in them!

Anyway, I like piloting my own boat.

I think it's good value, remember it comes with 4 jet skis and if you look carefully you will see 2 vertical posts on the stern. That is the demountable boat lift for when you pack the skis in the boot.

A little too opulent   for me BrianB6 & a bit heavy on the fuel.  :o ........ 44.4' litre per nautical mile  {-)

So for me to pop down from Port Kembla [Mangusta's deep water berth] to Melbourne for a BBQ & a few beers would cost

629 nautical consuming 44.4 l/per nm @ $ 1.49.9 [current price for deso this morning  = $41,863.47  <*< .....[one way]

Fuel cost is the least of your worries.   <:(
If you want to nip off for a barbie at a moments notice then you will need at least 2 live-in crews and people who will sit on a boat for weeks at a time are not cheap. Qualified captains are in short supply and cost at least US$200,000 a year.

Each crew is a Captain, an  Engineer, a Chef and 4  waiters/cleaners/deck-crew.
Oh and if they are real good at their job, your guests will offer them a better deal to entice them to transfer to their cruiser.  >>:-(
I have a distant relative who lives in Dorset, he finds it necessary to own 3 similar cruisers:- 1 based in Europe, a second in the Caribbean and one in Asia.    He is too busy to spend much time on any of them and never lets anyone borrow one.

Chap I used to work with had a sister in Bermuda. She worked for a company who looked after a number of properties for owners which had to be kept ready for owners to come and stay, which they rarely did. Many had other properties around the world which were rarely used either.
