Terminal Blocks
« on: September 04, 2019, 11:05:35 am »

After visiting my local electrical wholesaler yesterday I found these cable connectors. The down side is you can only fit a live red or black to each block you cannot mix them but with a little thought they can be used to accommodate your wiring needs. They come in a two version,  three version, and a five version this will allow you to use a series of them to suite your needs. When time allows  will post the spec for these blocks.

Hi Stan they are called Wago connectors. They are very good I know a couple of electricians that use them. They are so good that you can join a household cable with these and then hide them without having to provide an access panel for code. Unlike block connectors that do require an access panel.

I found Screwfix to be consistently best for price. Also come as 2way

Hi Stan,
Sorry for a really basic beginners question.
Am I understanding correctly that these connectors can effectively act as "splitters" / "joiners"? So if I have (e.g.) a positive lead from a battery in my model I can plug it into one of these and it will be connected to the other two or four sockets in the connector so that I can take two or four positive leads out?
Many thanks
Peter

That is exactly how they work, a Busbar if you like.

Great thanks.

I think they will be really useful in a restoration project I am working on - an Odin tug with numerous ancillaries that need power.

Morning Peter!

Don’t worry about the wiring of your Odin....  I probably have most things you need in my garage, including the tools, cable, connectors, miscellaneous switches etc.,
Regards
Phil.

Hi Collin you can make up what ever you like. Depends on your wiring needs all you need to remember is that each block will only take a plus or negative cable I have enclosed some pictures of basic wiring in my model hope this helps.

Hi all I have made a cradle from plastic card for the blocks to fit in they are held in place with double sided tape. These units are the 222 series lever connectors from Wago rated at 32 amps they also do a 221 series which is a clear fitting. For more information on products see www.wago.ltd.uk.

Thanks Stan, they are obviously a great improvement on the traditional chocolate box connectors even allowing for the fact that they can only accommodate one pole at a time which I don't see as a problem.

Photos show a very neat installation there!
