Could anyone spill the beans regarding what's involved in this fascinating demo is pleeze??

Guessing the torpedoes are powered up and held? in their tubes while the models on the bank,
then a servo lets them loose?? but how's it done etc???

There's a few YouTube torpedo videos. Some use little DC motors, some use compressed air. On RC groups there's recent links to shapeways prints of torpedo's which can be motorised. Think most I've seen use the little CO2 cartridges as a gas bottle. I say most, there's not that many vids I guess. I guess a spring helps the launch. Can't quite remember.

Could be powered on using reed switches or hall sensor switching a transistor or relay to power the motor. A moveable permanent magnet or fixed switch-able electromagnet in the boat could trigger the  sensor or reed switch allowing the torpedo to arm.
Gas torpedoes tend to use airbrush propellant. Co2 has too many issues to be used safely in that application I think.
