Speedline Severn build time?
« on: September 06, 2022, 05:16:07 pm »

Can anyone please suggest how many hours there might be in completing one of these to a reasonable standard, assuming a competent builder with a fair amount of experience and a reasonably well equipped workshop? I have a copy of Terry Small's excellent build article from 2007 and it is obvious this is a big complex model with a lot of detail. (Over 1,700 stainless steel bolt heads to be placed individually!) But on the other hand it seems that unlike some kits, everything fits and construction should be reasonably free of time-consuming glitches. Could anyone offer a ballpark figure for hours, please?

Thank you.

John Davies.

Hi John.  Well it depends how much time you have, I took 3 years to build my 1/16th Severn due to me working spending an hour or so
at a time. Regards the 1/12th if I was retired do it in a year. but never rush things.

Hi
It took me about 7 years on and off. "do it nice or do it twice" that has always been by favourite adage.

I know a couple of people that have built it and both 5 years and both of them retired and tried to do a bit every day only if for an hour BUT builts into a stunning model. I have one myself to build along with the other 20 builds  %%
