Cornwall Model Boats site still in stock. Just been in Scoonie Models in Kirkaldy and looks like they have a bunch (shafts and tubes that is).

...who stopped making them? Don't radio active and Caldercraft make, or market them?

Hope that helps

It wouldn't be to difficult to make your own, 4mm stainless steel rod is readily available, just need to buy a die of the correct thread

I see from the photos you've posted on your other thread that it's the complete tube and shaft assembly you require, I got the impression it was just the shaft you were after :embarrassed:

Why is the brass outer no good to you? If the diameter is the same as the others then there should be no problem as on a scale model the tubes should all be painted the same colour as the underside of the hull so whether they are steel or brass should not matter.

HI Colin  well how can I put this brass outer is no good to me because I have three silver S/S tubes an need 4 altogerther  as I don't paint my sharft as I like to have the option of if a bering in the sharft goes ( which has happened to me due to unbalanced prop ) I can just break the water tight seal in the sharft tube fitted in to hull an slide the  sharft tube out but if painted its goin to be much harder as I would have to remove the skin of paint I hope that exsplains it

Um, no I don't quite understand that. Once you have installed the prop tubes in a model it would be very unusual indeed to have to remove them. I have only found it necessary to do so once in 50 years of modelling! It is certainly not normal modelling practice to provide for prop tube removal. If there is an imbalance problem then replacing the bearing inserts would be the usual solution but on a scale model this would be very rare too.
Most commercial scale props will be sufficiently balanced not to result in significant oval wear in a scale boat prop tube bearing.

In the very unlikely event of having to extract the tube itself then the paint would be on the outer end so would not impede the withdrawal of the tube.
To be honest, I think you are worrying too much!

Yes Colin you are proberly right but ive had this happen an as for the paint the sharft tube still has to go through the very tight A FRAME tube so would still have to remove all the paint

I take your point but I still think you are probably worrying too much. However if you can source a tube and shaft to match your existing ones then that is certainly the first choice.

Cheers Colin for advise an yes that's what I want to do have all 4 sharfts silver an then if the sharft scrapes something then paint wont come off an show silver or brass as ive seen severall nice models with scraped shafts an to me it don't look pretty
