RNSX Exploit... new project
« on: November 07, 2019, 11:01:10 am »

Well after a good bit of thought and a bit of a break from the hobby due to failing health, I have decided I needed a new project for over the winter period.
I was goint to purchase a Hull and deck set but have a had a change of mind... not sure that would work out .
So I've purchased the plan of an old fav in 1/16th scale RNSX Exploit, I saw  HMS Explorer dock at whiby a few times and I did always fancy that :) Archer class it is..
So after a bit of online research for anyone else thats build or start one from the same plan I found one instance, it was mentioned that the plan was off a little regarding formers ? so I an hoping someone on here has any info or build knowlage of this plan ?
Crossed fingers Pete... did i bite of a little too much :)

If I remember correctly (going back to 1997) the plan is drawn to one scale whilst the formers were drawn to another scale. Never found a suitable donor hull to be available.

A friend of mine was crew on HMS Explorer (P164) it was his last ship in the navy, a few years back he managed a huge tick on his bucket list when he took his restored Broads Cruiser out to sea to have a little cruise with HMS Explorer, HMS Trumpeter and MTB 102, I was cameraman aboard MTB 102 on that occasion, and yes a race between the Royal Naveys moder ships and MTB 102 did take place, MTB 102 just about had the edge on the Navy ships despite being down engined to just about the same HP as them

Has anyone on here built or started a model from the 1/16th plan I've got ?
Seems the frames are no where near correct for the deck lines  ?
front and rear are way out.. when Ive traced the outlines nothing matches the deck at any point... Will probally need to re draw them :(
