I was once run over by an aircraft carrier but I will not admit to the details.

Oh well, seeing as you asked so nicely.  :-)

I've done nine TV programmes in recent  years, every time the media wants someone to talk about the Advanced Passenger Train they seem to call me. Must have something to do with the fact that I was the Tilt System Development Engineer on that project and still look after the train to this day, even though it's a museum exhibit now at Shildon in Co. Durham.

Even further back I did a 'Tomorrow's World' episode with the late, great Raymond Baxter when I was working in the motor industry.

I did my parachute training course at RAF Brize Norton in 1978 straight after Prince Charles did his and had the same jump instructors. He took a short cut and missed P company, how convenient  {-)

It was reported that in 1987, a photograph of my face with a red X over it hung in Parliament House Canberra in the Office of the Minister for Defence [affectionately called Kimbo]

Kimbo was working for Wezel Nose [the PM, as he was known] and any form of Industrial Disruption at any Commonwealth Establishment was forbidden

Well this was OK until the Acting Senior Foreman Grade III in the Weapons Production Group at our RAN Fleet Base spoke firmly 'if bluntly' and made a small decision that saw some workers [about 2000] at GID go on strike for what they termed as verbal and excessive abuse to an Iron Worker [who just happened to be the Iron Workers Union Delegate for the Weapons Production Group O0 ]

After a few days, the Office of Kimbo demanded that the matter be resolved and if it took the Foreman concerned eating humble pie and making a Formal apology [to the Iron Worker Delegate in front of The Combined Union Shop Committee in the presence of the General Manager who was also a  Rear Admiral] then so be it...

So the Office of the General Manager [Rear Admiral] scripted my humble words, all was said, we all had a cup of tea and all was forgotten

Until that is, some six months later when all of the Workers at GID walked off and on strike .......yes that same Foreman was at it again

However on this occasion, the investigation found a clear misunderstanding of content and the said Foreman was give a Well Done :-))  for maintaining the security of our Nation......however I don't necessarily know that Wezel Nose exactly saw it in the same spirit

[Actual names of the persons involved have been changed to protect against any potential litigation  {-) ]

Ah, Raymond Baxter, there's a name to bring back memories. I remember him demonstrating a small one man hovercraft. Great fun, the only surface that it didn't hit in the studio was the ceiling. It didn't fly that high!

Hi LJ did not see you at the St. Albans show this year?  I am afraid Raymond Baxter was not for me I always thought he talked down to viewers.
