Next build- a faering
« on: December 07, 2019, 04:19:06 pm »

I built a full size faering six years ago, and at the same time bought a Norwegian kit of the similar Oselver faering.
Just remembered it lurking in a cupboard, so I dug it out.
Here goes...

Excellent! Any pictures of the 1:1-scale one?  :-))

Yep. Sold on three years ago- I decided rowing was hard work after a bust bicep.

Just read that Wisloff Modellbygge, the makers of the Norwegian kit, were completely wiped out by a fire in 2014, along with 43 years worth of their own models.
Tragic.

Sheer strakes about to be glued. I will probably add copper rivets for appearance- I did with the full size one!
Unlike the full size, I will fit the mast, sail and rudder.

Hull woodwork finished, but lots of details to do before I get to the mast, rigging and oars.
The copper rivets are out- the grain is so pronounced it is difficult to get the holes drilled in a straight line.

Mast and rigging next. The oars look like they will be fun....

Three more oars to make, and she is finished.

Last bit of detail- the traditional wooden scoop bailer.
