That is exactly why I asked. They are some of the best phone camera pictures that I have seen with a good depth of field.

Happily, there were quite a few members of the younger generation when I was there on Saturday morning, many spending their pocket money  :-))

I was there on the Saturday too, and I must have missed half the layouts as your pics show ones I didn't recognise.  :-)

The width of the aisles was notable, lots of space for people to mill around, unlike some places in Warwickshire I could mention...……..

Hi I take BRM on subscription and a little while ago they had a survey on how much you spent annually on your hobby.
It was a tick box vote and the lowest figure was £1500 +.
I assume they are all more up market than a mere model boater!
My own modest railway has second hand engines and rolling stock and comes no where near this figure.

Perhaps Phil Parker might iike to comment?

£1500 is an incredible amount for the lowest spend. I cannot believe that most modelling hobbyists get anywhere near that on a regular basis. I am sure that the average model railway magazine reader does not have layouts comparable to those featured in the magazines or displayed at exhibitions.

I have r/c aircraft, r/c boats & I have a railway + I take photography fairly seriously & I don't spend more than £1500 per year on the whole lot as an average.

I spoke to one chap there yesterday, running  a layout, here reckoned he had a least £100,000 worth of train items!

...... Even allowing say, 50%.... even 80% for exaggeration that still £20,000 worth of  stuff!   :o

( some video clips of layouts to follow....   )

It does not take long to spend all your money if you buy something like this!  :embarrassed:
I had to give up buying even 2nd. hand rolling stock many years ago.  <:(

And have you seen the price of a good camera?

:-))  Excellent video's Martin , it takes a video to show the results of hundreds of hours work by these gent's , a single shot doesn't do justice .
The Model Engineer's show at Doncaster Race course , would be worth a visit some stunning work on display there , Trains / boats / planes etc etc .
