Dremel replacement
« on: January 18, 2020, 12:49:53 pm »

Over the years I have had two Dremel  drills. Both have let me down without excessive use. The first failed when the speed controller became inoperative. The second has completly  failed  with no power to the motor. (Not the fuse, not the brushes, not the cable).
So my question is "What  is your mini drill of choice?" I would be interested to see your choice.

When my latest dremel packs up I'll be swapping to proxxon.  The run out on the spindle is shocking for the money they charge which is why I use the extension drive which is better.

i just use the ones i bought at maplins and the lidl ones , i have about 6 now, i use proper chucks not collet ones and where necessary tweak the inside runout with a straight shank diamond grinding bit running in another dremel, while running both drills, running them on flexishafts is another good way to stop vibration.

Foredom motor and flexible shaft with choice of various chucks.
Industrial quality, expensive but worth it. you'll give it to your grandkids

I have been using the Dremel 4000 tool for the last few years now. I also have a couple of older Dremel's that are about 25 years old by now.

Here is a link to get replacement parts for many of the Dremel's.
