Planet 5 switch
« on: January 24, 2020, 03:03:27 pm »

Could anybody tell me if I will damage a servo connected to the 5th channel switch on a planet 5.
When switched on the servo energizes one way. When the switch is moved the servo goes to the other end of its travel.
Will being permanently energized damage the servo.

No damage

Same as selecting full left rudder servo moves and stops, change to full right rudder and same happens.
The servo will just stay in same position until signal changes.

It's only "energised" while it's moving. Once the voltage at the feedback pot is the same as the reference voltage on the chip then the motor is switched off.

I bet you wish you'd not asked!

It's doing what a servo is supposed to do on a switched channel.  With the switch in one position, a signal is generated to tell servo to take up a corresponding position.  When the switch is operated, it generates a new signal to cause the servo to move to the other position.
