FISHERS GREEN SAILING CLUB - MODEL SECTION

(1/1)

Wareboat:

The club is based in the Lea Valley just North of Waltham Abbey, Essex. Taking the B194 South from Nazeing or North from Waltham Abbey, turn in to Stubbins Hall Lane and follow signs for Fishers Green and then the sailing club (FGSC).  Prospective members should contact one of the  members listed below, as  access to the site is by card operated security gate. Waltham Abbey is just by the M25 Junction 26, and the club is approx. 8 to 10 minutes drive from that motorway.
Club members have full use of the facilities including the clubhouse with male and female toilets and showers, a café and a bar. Tea/coffee/buns/chocolate bars/crisps etc are available all day (£1 = a cup of coffee + a bun)
Model boater's can operate their models anywhere, provided they don't impinge on the full size  sailors. In practice this means operating on the area by our 'mini clubhouse' and if desired then going out onto the larger areas of the lake.
The water is not wadeable but a full rescue service is provided. There is a hard edge to the launching area and does not require wellingtons, but launching straps or frames are recommended.
Parking is next to the water, so no long walks.( and it is free)
Normal sailing times are 9.30am to 2pm on Sundays, but the club is also open on Saturdays and Wednesday evenings in the summer. The only requirement being that two model boating members are present, for safety reasons. to.
The only type of model boat not allowed are those with i/c engines.
Membership is £60 per annum. Junior members are welcome, but must always be accompanied by a responsible adult.
