Kingdon boiler heat up time
« on: April 05, 2020, 05:03:32 pm »

Can someone give me a rough guide as to how long a kingdon boiler with lukewarm water on a relatively warm day such as today take to reach 40psi ie my running pressure? Just a very rough guideline please.

I only use distilled water at room temperature and it takes about 15 minutes to heat it up tp 60psi and then after that I drop it to 40-45psi for running. I always run it up to 60psi to check the pressure relief valve is working as per instructions in the manual.

Bojour Carl,
Since the beginning of my collection, 12 years ag, I note all the highlights of my navigation including my problems and ... my heating pads at the current temperature. I have a big notebook! the date of my videos allows me to find the information.
For my Kingdon,  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cyZ_F29vd4 at 21°C I need about 12 minutes to reach 40 PSI / 2,5 bar.
But I needed more than 15 minutes to reach 30 PSI max at 10°C : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cyZ_F29vd4 , which gave me a little longer autonomy.
The water is always at room temperature, it is either from the tap or from a can brought to the field.
