Hi, my name is Jack, i am British I'm 83 years old, i am a retired captain and living in Singapore. Surfing on the internet brought me to this site and i had a very pleasant surprise. I saw a model of the Hull trawler "St Nectan" I actually went on a summer pleasure trip on the sister ship "St Wistan" I was probably 13 years old in about 1950, taken on board by my uncle, Alan Garton who was a deck hand, I have a keen interest in many types of ships, I spent my national service of 2 years in the Royal Navy, my later years before retirement were spent in the offshore oil industry undertaking oil rig supply vessel inspections and on offshore oil rigs for deployment to oil fields around South America, Middle East, Asia and
Africa.I have been avidly reading some of the articles in the magazine and am looking forward to participating in site

Hi Jack welcome aboard well I suppose  some one has to come from Hull <:( could of been worst and been Scunthorpe  %% am laughing cause when I moved down to Scunthorpe in 1978 I thought it would be good to read up of the local history, Airfields, bomber command, and fishing from Grimsby and Hull first book I picked up on fishing first page said the Humber was the a--- hole of the world and Hull was stuffed right up it. sorry still makes me laugh. that's the last I'll say on the matter, hope you get to enjoy mayhem like the rest of us.
                 Regards Howard.

Howard, there is always somebody!
Jack, welcome, and good to see another oilfielder. I spend many years in Brunei drilling oil wells and worked on a converted LCT that was used as a Tender for Tender assisted drilling. Spend several months in Singapore in the mid 80s commissioning another Drilling Tender for Brunei. on departure from Singapore the offices were furnished with rosewood furniture, cocktail cabinets etc. for people in Brunei to escape import taxes. The lifeboats were 3 fast speedboats for the waterskiing fraternity at the boatclub!
