Trawler Maggie M
« on: March 07, 2020, 11:12:59 pm »

Hi guys,
a few weeks ago I started building the Maggie M. Please find attached a few pictures of the progress. So far hardly anything of the superstructure is actually mounted yet. Just waiting for warmer weather to paint outside. She will be equipped with navigation lights, RAM foghorn sound system and a rotating radar. Power will be  supplied by one 12V 4.4 Ah lead battery. The Motor is a 795 3000rpm at 12V and a 40mm brass prop.

Regards
Wilhelm

I am so glad you are leading the way with this  O0  Your work is fantastic and mine is still in the box so your help is very fortuitous  8)
Especially love the stand and the ballast chambers as a bonus to the rest of your quality  :-)

I might add that for anyone in UK this is a real bargain price and more so if you collect in person and experience the tour with Jackie

Is that Squadron red putty pictured?

Hi Andy

and thanks for your comment. I thought it was an easy straight forward build, but you have to be very accurate fitting the deck otherwise the boat looks crooked. The model itself is fantastic as well as the service from "modelslipway".

Regular car body filler.

Very nice work, I wish I could do brass work to your standard!
I'm not bad with wood though. Please keep the pics coming.

Nice work there Wilhelm! Glad you found another great project after finishing your Imara.
I will follow your build with interest. With your fast progress you will easily run through this build before I even have a chance at test running my Imara  :-)

Thanks Dom,
I am pretty sure your excellent Imara will be in the water before my Maggie M.

I did work on the wheelhouse and it is almost done. Couldn't resist to spray paint some small items in a cardboard box.

We did have a couple of nice days and I finally could manage some painting. Not done yet, but she is coming along now.

I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Very nice indeed, Wilhelm! Lovely build, congrats so far!
How does the (presumably much more modern) kit compare to the "classic" Imara kit?

Thanks guys. ok2 ok2

@Dom
So far I did build three models made by "Caldercraft and three by "Modelslipway". Overall the instructions by MS are much more detailed than the ones from Caldercraft. .The same is valid for the accuracy of the plans, In the end, every model has its own character and challenges. I don't mind the kits of either company, both create wonderful models.

Hi guys,
I want to fly the correct flag on the Maggie M. Which one of the two, the "Union Jack" or the "Red Ensign"?
Thanks for your time.

Splash out and use both  O0

A really wonderful build, I know how unforgiving cameras can be in detailed shots where the naked eye would not notice anything but yours looks top drawer  :-)

Meanwhile I'm asking a fisherman from Scarborough for you

Thanks Andy
for your kind words and the quick response to my question.  :-)) That works out great because I still have a "Red Ensign" in my parts shelf. O0

Kind Regards

Hi guys,
still waiting for parts from England. In the meantime I decided to add some interior lights to the wheelhouse. I did remove the 4 tiny screws holding the roof the wheelhouse and removed the false ceiling which covered the wiring for the deck lights. I drilled three wholes in the false ceiling and added three LED's (warm white). The current to the high intensity LED's was limited to 1mA with a resistor. The result shows in the pictures.
