1/24 schnellboot- S100 type
« on: March 12, 2020, 11:13:22 am »

Good morning all.
I’m new to this site so please advise me if I’m in the wrong place {:-{

I’m in the process of assembling the many elements for a 1/24 schnellboot project to start later this year and need to ask for two pieces of advice:-

1/ is there anyone who makes suitable rudders ( centre and wings) for this craft? I have props from props hop but am drawing a blank with rudders.

2/ Are  there a detailed set of 1/24 plans about ( similar to that available fo the Fairmile D)?
I have the plans that came with the hull and various books but would like AO size if possible.
Worst case I have the 1/35 Italeri model that I can use the plans from and also take measurements but thought I would ask the experts.
Look forward to hearing from anyone
Regards

Thank you for your reply.

I have purchased my guns and deck fittings from Adrian at Battlecrafts (which I may add are first class) but sadly he stops there. He does not do the mechanical side of things.W,

It was Adrian who suggested I try this forum for additional advice.

If you want accuracy regarding the rudders you will have to make them, i couldn't find any when building mine.

Thank you for the reply and picture.
Where did you the dimensions to build your as there doesn’t seem to be an awful lot of drawings about.
I was starting to think I would have to scratch build them.

I obtained a 4-sheet set of German plans in 1/25 scale from a guy on here. I haven't seen him on here for ages.
I've since sold my model complete with plans so I own nothing now except pictures of real boats I downloaded from various sites and the pictures I took of my model in build.

There is a book of 3D drawings of type S38 and S100 Schnellboots which also includes 1:75 scale drawings of both types.  It is published by Kagero.

Somewhere I do have a 1:24 scale drawing of an S boot but unfortunately I cant find it at the moment, or remember whether its an S38 or S100.  I also have a Metcalf Mouldings hull and lots of relevent books on the subject as a long term un-started project.  I will have a look in the loft later today to see if I can find the drawing, which could perhaps be copied if there is no longer any copyright on it.  As far as I can remember it was drawn by someone in Holyhead but I don't know if he is still in business, it was not a name I was familiar with.

I just typed in S100 Schnellboat plans, and got quite a few hits.

Good luck,

Hi Tom,

I found the plan, its a 1:24 scale drawing of S80 by Martins Models of Holyhead.  However I cant find any sign of the business still existing, unless someone knows better.  I might be able to get the drawing copied in York but I don't know how much it would cost.  If you want to follow this up please let me know.

As far as I can remember, Martins Models range of hulls and plans were bought by Model Slipway and subsequently passed on to Dave Metcalf when he and Lawrie White parted company. They may still be with Mr M but I have a feeling they might have since gone on to Models by Design. If that's the case then you'd best treat that avenue of research as closed.

Thank you all that have replied to my request for info.

I do have the plans mentioned from Metcalfe moulding but they are not overly detailed.

As Colin suggested I did google and can see the 1/25 plans which look just what I’m after but I can’t see where if possible

I can get them from as they are a number of years old.

I can also see info on the modlerwarships.com website but again it needs mor investigation.

I would love to here from anyone who knows where I could get a set of these 1/25 plans .
