Posting pictures using the image server
« on: March 25, 2020, 04:53:24 pm »

I am trying to post photos using the image server. I have followed the steps in Martin's video but nothing happens apart from the photo is being uploaded to the server. From the video it looks like the link address to the photo should automatically appear in the post window. Is this correct? If so I am doing something wrong.

Would someone please explain what exactly is required step by step and also how to link a photo that has already been uploaded to the server.

If you have already uploaded an image

Step 1 - click on the image name

Step 2 - click on "Embed Codes"

Step 3 - copy one of the codes and paste it into your Mayhem post - I always use the BB code format

Job done

WEll I just tried Again having done so earlier when it failed   and surprise it failed again the  error report  says failed  Duplicate  upload or something like that.  The  first time used upload second drag and drop  should not need to faff about with embed codes to get round it

Martin has spent hours and hours behind the scenes trying to get an elegant, easy to use method (one click) for posting images to this forum - it's a subject that is important to him - and I would suggest caused him a few (several) grey hairs and lots of frustration.

We have got used to the ease of posting images on social media etc ($$$$$$$ platforms) and other forums - the software that this forum uses does not facilitate this without a cost.
The cost being hard disk storage / choking the running of the forum slowly....

Jaymac - I can see you have uploaded 3 images to the MBM image server - they are there waiting to be linked to a future post - if you follow the method described a few posts back you will be successful

Elegant solution - NO - Does it work - YES

Hi C-3PO,

Yes the photo is of Crater Lake. I was there in late August, travelling all over Oregon, but this was the best bit. Thanks again for your help.

It's a little faff but it works. Click on the green icon in a new post, log in to the picture server. There are some horizontal lines in the top left corner, click on these and you get a drop down menu. On the menu is your user name, click on that and then select profile. This will bring up a page with your pictures. You can then follow C-3POs guide to post your Pictures.
