Stay healthy, Terry.

Model Slipway Vliestroom which I bought in 2001 (found the receipt in the box a couple of weeks ago). Got the hull and crane finished now, just got to detail and paint the superstructure.  If this drags on another 5 years I might get that bit finished too!
Also got a 1:350 Tamiya HMS Prince of Wales on the bench. It's ready for final assembly and painting once I pick up a couple of motors, got a chance of it sailing this year maybe.

Stay safe everyone

After what has been a while, I have started to whittle some annoying parts for the Armoured Cruiser project, namely ship's boats.

Above are two Steam Pinnaces, a 42 foot Launch and a 36foot Pinnace in progress, made from balsa for lightness.

The Launch will have the 36footer sat on top and that will have a 27foot whaler on top again.

Just noticed Ian it's been two years since I finished my last boat build, but I'm often in my workshop with other projects like my railway and a couple of Wilesco steam plants I've rebuilt, I've even done a few paint by numbers pictures these things keep me busy in retirement but I've always kept my interest in boats, and as things are now with even more time to fill it seemed a good time for another boat project, I can't even see us having a holiday this year.

Joe,

So true. I don't imagine the words Joe and Idle appear in the same sentence often if at all. If I had the space and money, I would be tempted to join my local club and build a layout or two.

2. How much did you tell the wife?  %)

Still busy with Stevns Arctic plus a couple of new projects, I have wanted to build a Pelagic Trawler for quite a while but have never come across a hull at the scale that i would enjoy building. I did contact Bill Wood from Scotland some time ago as he did a hull for Girl Stephanie at 1/25 but unfortunately he had sold the plug on. After a lot of enquires i managed to get what i needed to build my own plug, I am building the Research LK62 at 1/60 scale.

blast from the past - this one is called TELECTRA designed by N.E. Harris from the Model Boats plans service.   I have a little ENYA 15 to go in it - trying to keep it as authentic as possible.

Cheers Joe.
This is my first kit I started January 2017. Only 3 months later I discovered 1:32 scale and dropped this like a rock  {-)  to build my Portgarth.
So I thought I'd give it another shot.
Korts resined in now. I need to reprimer in red oxide and satin lacquer it. Fit the rudders and then good for a bath test.

I fitted upgraded shaft with oilers and better props

pottering about in the workshop assessing what I've got in stock so to speak to use on the build of the huntsman sadly after a two year break from boat building the answer is not much a couple of bits of brass rod/tube  and a few pieces of styrene, this is going to be expensive, I'll be using my trusty old Saturn 6 that I have a spare receiver for so I'm making up a shopping list materials wise, the hardware will come later once I decide how she will be powered almost defo brushless/ lipo . the clear coat lacquer came today quire good value at £13 for two large cans including postage, still waiting for the water slide paper, in the mean time I've also been pondering over a name for the Huntsman, I was thinking of maybe something befitting our present situation like Corona or Virus but I thought that was too gross so then I thought when it's all over we will have our freedom again so maybe the name Liberty, but then I don't think I want to be reminded of this time not that we'll forget anyway, so I settled on "Hunter's moon" It was a place the wife and I used to go to quite often when we had our caravan and dog and has happy memories, so I've made up a decal to practice with so when the paper comes I'll see if I can master it.

In between the usual lockdown painting / decorating / DIY stuff I'm cracking on with my long-term trawler project, a modified Deans Marine MFV Tradition.

Stay safe everyone.
