One of those odd questions but can anyone read Farsi?I'm playing with the details on a conversion of a small jet drive hull from a Vic Smeed design that I built for Wickstead a few years ago. It's pretty well perfect to turn into a Chinese designed gun/missile boat that was/is used all over the Middle East, Far East and Africa.The Iranian option is in the attached and I'm trying to check whether the Farsi script next to the number is the equivalent of HMS or otherwise?Any guidance would be much appreciated.Thanks

It seems to be readable by my translator from Persian to English and comes out as 'lightning'. Doing a search on that it is also the name of an Iranian tug and a type of fighter jet in the Iranian airforce.

However, in answer to your original question, it does not appear to contain a tag like HMS.


NB, this post has been edited since my original post, as I changed the language on my translator from Arabic to Persian, but the end translation of lightning remains the same.

That's fantastic TT!
It saves me from making an embarrassing typo at the very least! My only question is how on earth did you get your translator to grab the text? I tried to edit the section on paint and then input the section but it told me to forget it.

How I did it.
Step 1. Use the snipping tool to isolate the text, and then blow the image up.
Step 2. Using Google translate app on the mobile. Google translate is a free app and as well as translating text is has optical character recognition (OCR). When in the app you can press the camera icon, point the camera at the text and it translates it.

Easy when you know. I use OCR for translation everyday, from Chinese to English. OCR only reads printed text, not handwriting.

Ahh....That's where I went wrong! I didn't delegate to my daughter, or son or even wife. I abandoned hope with anything more complicated than a Nokia 3310 after spending weeks sliding my finger apparently randomly around the screen.

A fun little lock-down conversion of a Vic Smeed Spurtster flattie ended up as a C14 China Cat, used by a number of navies over the Middle East and South East Asia. Scale worked out at almost exactly 1:32 and since there were a number of variants I ended up with this one.
All scratch from stuff I had around except the Iran flag (Courtesy of Mike at Scale Flags).
Now back to the main project....... >:-o
