To take the cable apart from the clutch and then stops I've designed three separate chambers for them.
A critical thing for me was the axialslot for the stops. 2mm wide and 7mm deep and only a  self made lathe tool.

But it works well and i'm really happy with the result

Setup the 3-jaw-chuck on the roundtable to drill the holes for the stops and the cables.
After that, the first crane segment gets his outer shape

After all that technical things, a crash with the mill and another issue with the cables and the principle construction of the cranes I take a brake and put some red paint on the ship.

Nice little testdrive during vacation. Very manoeverable that little tug. I'm happy with his look and feel. So, this testdrive was an great motivation to put more time in it and his details.

That looks like a really nice basis for all the detail work that it deserves.

Watching.

Excellent progress Ralf! The engineering looks first rate, and I think everyone with a mill has 'Redesigned' a bit and the work once.

Sorry for the lack of pics in the last post.  Here they come:

Brass rings with soldered cables

Isolators and centrical helpers from printed resins.

In the middle a ring with four adjustment screws for the little n20 gear motor

The stator:
Base plate with the ring of holes for the cables

Brass pins to the sliprings.

arranged in a circle

ready for the o-ring to push the brassoins onto the sliprings

all together and in action you can see here https://www.instagram.com/p/CB57AgQKibC/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

hi,
it's been a while since my last post. A surgery on my Achilles tendon prevents me from continuing the build. Actually I'm still unable to make complex technical things on the mill or lathe but I don't waste my complete time. I've build many details like the mast with his fiddly lights and antennas, the complete rooftop-arrangement, handrails, lifebuoys and the rearward bulwarks. Not scale but useful is the little threaded bolt, hidden in the great bollard. It will be hold a little camera.

btw: Shortly before the surgery, the cranes base was completed and takes his place on deck

Next step will be the under deck mechanic.
