Thank you for your nice comments. I hope she will look good wearing paint when I get to it  :-)

This is my idea for easy mounting and removal if repairs needed for the gallows. I have doubled the deck thickness at the locating holes too.  The 4mm UJ insert is just the ideal size and shape to turn without tools. I had one in my bits drawer so only had to order one more from SHG

Having fettled the Gunwales this morning it seemed only right to make the bow railings. Rather than use the feeble supplied stanchions I've gone my own route with 1.7mm brass rod.

A change of plan with the propeller, I've used a 35mmRH Raboesch

The pulley blocks I believe give some modellers a headache but simply making cuts half way through enables the required shape. The wood is very absorbent to CA so take advantage, when set it is so much stronger then finish with abrasives

A late night inspiration to support the bow railing much better by integrating with the cable guide.

So the rails are now awaiting a Tamiya paint delivery.

Focus on the wheel house and windows etc now. Building on experience gained from the lobster boat, going one step up I am making internal frames and external surrounds.

That's is lovely and interesting work Andy! The idea to combine the stanchion and guide is excellent  :-))

Thank you both for the votes  :-)

I'm struggling for paint just now  :((  Halfords next Wednesday to complete my click and collect.

However I must give a shout out and recommendation for Time Tunnel Models. Very definitely keenest price on Tamiya sprays but the bonus is FREE delivery on over £30. Royal Mail will not carry paint and most outlets want anything up to £6.45 for courier delivery.

Believe me when I say £30 is very quickly gobbled up by Tamiya  {-) {-) {-)

I've not yet imagined a colour scheme but the roof will definitely be white  O0  and work down from there.

I have however chosen a name! easy really considering Lobster boat is my eldest daughter Shelley Ann

Boulogne will be Rebecca Alice my youngest.

EDIT When I build MaggieM she will be Yorkshire Freckles after my wife  O0

Thank you Ian. There is actually no stanchion at all there on the plan but it seemed ridiculous to not support the rail with such an extension. However I confess I have made the rail extend further because I feel it looks more appropriate. This model in the Billings range really lends itself to upgrades and very enjoyable for a modestly priced kit at Cornwall MB

Three frames complete in primer. When everything has finished paint there will be no need for adhesive for sure.
Roof is Tamiya pure white

Tedious but worth it. Window outer frames made and primed.

Some assembled shots for flavour

I'm going to use a life raft canister as I have one in stock of a smaller scale to the one I fitted on my 1:12 Lobster

Easier to paint than a life ring {-)

I started the day looking at possible embellishments. I made a wooden backing for solar panel print.

These have no sticky backing so I used 3M spray mount

I then continued with the Wheelhouse detailing

Slowly running out of details to finish so painting will be the order of proceedings very soon.

I think Tamiya racing green is going to be the main colour featured.

No idea if this will be up to the job but a 50mm speaker arrived today from RS just over £4 delivered.

It will fit in the wheelhouse firing down into the hull but all subject to variation.

Soldering the trawl board. Parts fitted with CA then heat sinks to protect.

Approaching the end of construction now and two paint deliveries tomorrow  :-)

A sample of Tamiya racing green on grey with wood grain. Should look vibrant on white primer with no grain

Made a start today after two paint deliveries.
It's only when primed that any flaws show up but its not bad. I will fettle it before a final coat.
Then I will mask off the red and prime the rest in white. Then mask off the waterline to paint the upper hull racing green.
The whole hull will then be overcoated in satin lacquer.

Opinions please

Wheelhouse Green top half or bottom half? I am thinking top half. Bulwarks will also be white

This is the green

I notice you mask and spray bottom half of hull first rather than the whole lot.  Why, I may ask please if you don't mind?

Good question
My answer would be that it depends on the colours involved and I want to minimise the number of coats and masking.
Firstly by not priming the whole hull I have preserved my waterline.
I will mask off the red next and spray the rest white primer then mask the white for the waterline and spray the green.
Finally lacquer over all three saving using top coats on the primers.

Boulogne does not have a parallel water line but is quite unusual

Fair enough! I find waterline more challenging, do it once. Get everything sorted below, then mark up and mask-off once.  Each to their own I guess! Looks like you do your cutting back on the hull before paint rather than after, or with a primer "guide coat".

Looks like you had a "good" batch of cap Maquette's liferaft cannisters. I ordered 2 for my last build.  One was like yours, the other came with more crude stickers and red tape that fell off after about 5 seconds, wasn't even same colour.  I do like Cap Maquette's fittings though!

Yes because it is glassed, the shape has to be near perfect prior to resin.

easy

She's sweet for tomorrow now. Top half is already fine. I've only had to fettle around the fairing I did to the prop tube
