...yes, but it's very impressive to do that without some form of colour on the hull.  That's a very superior modelling skill you have mastered!!!!!  You should turn your hand to car restorations if you ever find yourself needing a bit of cash!!!

Thank you Rich
I could go back to work at the prefab factory I’m always welcome but we made a decision to cut our cloth and retire. Very good money but life is short

So called Flaming June has again curtailed any painting. When I was growing up I always thought the term referred to a period of hot weather but as long as I can remember it has always been flaming raining  {-)  and currently relatively cold too cold for spray paint

In old money there is a 20 degree drop in temperature from Tuesday and the humidity is very high not ideal for painting.

Yes that's quite dramatic Stan.

I got a break, the sky cleared and it warmed up a little enough to get some coats done.

In a change of plan I feathered the edge of the anti fouling coat and got it twice lacquered. When hardened this will be masked off to do the white above etc.

I've covered the boat testing tub so I can paint under cover  {-)

I've been having a bit of trouble with white but today I discovered that Tamiya TS-101 base white has a significantly better covering power. it is designed for applying over dark colours.
Here the wheelhouse is now ready for the lower half finishing in racing green. The separate interference fit glazing frames will be dark grey.

I will leave these screws loose for a few days as from experience the pressure would cause a bond between the lacquered parts.

A much better day than envisaged so progress was made. Some green tomorrow I hope. I've no idea what to do with the net to finish that off?

What went on there, had a reply and hit "preview" then everything deleted!

You need some more detail around that net drum in my opinion.  They always have some floats / weights / spacers and plenty of ropes wound on the outer layer.  You could look to use the chord supplied with vertical blinds (it's plastic beads every half inch on a string)...

...I've not made the links live as pics this time as the forum didn't like it before!

....etc.  Knowing you, you can look at a piture of a net config of 'tinternet and make up some wires, punched leather, some floats and weights etc to wrap round the outside to make it look a bit less "sterile".

Yea, sorry, don't know what went on when I liked them as images.  Here's another pic, not the same kind of net but shows some fittings so usually full of floats, weights, chains, poking through from the final bit of the net...

 :-))  super thanks.

An ensemble waiting for more paint. If I get the wheelhouse green done successfully tomorrow then the windows can be fitted with glazing and frames

Thank you  :-)

I spent all morning filling and sanding all the nooks and crannies until I'm satisfied she's ready for a final prime of white.
The bulwarks will remain white with a small margin "John Boyd" style and the deck will be the lighter grey as per the removable deck section.
Not sure what colour for the gunwale yet.

Thank you Ian. There is actually no stanchion at all there on the plan but it seemed ridiculous to not support the rail with such an extension. However I confess I have made the rail extend further because I feel it looks more appropriate. This model in the Billings range really lends itself to upgrades and very enjoyable for a modestly priced kit at Cornwall MB

Your model, your rules  :-))

The wheel house looks fab in green. I reckon the hull will do so as well.

Yesterday I finished filling sanding and final priming.
I need a warm day now for Halfords satin lacquer overcoat. The white Tamiya primer will serve as finish colour when lacquered.
The sweeping curvaceous white line will be masked along its top edge to spray the green finish.

I managed to get some lacquer on after all today. First I took the edge off the white with 1500 grit.
Tomorrow I will mask off the fancy waterline to apply the green.

I was never sure about the colour of the gunwale but I think it will remain white to maintain the white/green connection and masking wise a whole load easier.
Billing instructions indicate grey for the whole transom bar the water line but on advice this will be green too. The slope however will be another colour but not sure what yet? perhaps white too or bare metal silver. EDIT or the dark grey of the gallows.

Masking for the green. First the upper edge of the white curve is created by eye and judgement.

Then everything not green is protected to best of my ability

Unfortunately I only had enough paint for a mist coat and now awaiting a delivery

I thought I might update you on the MRW sound module. It very clearly was designed for use with small models driven by brushed motor.
The output volume is non adjustable and it simply cannot compete with the inherent noise generated by brushless motors and ESC
So I can only class it as a FAIL in my build.

I might add that the Action Electronics unit is a similar price and far more potentially useable with volume adjustment and more cylinder options.

Potentially far more bang for buck
