Brushless motors
« on: April 22, 2020, 07:06:43 pm »

Hi All,
Hope someone can help?, I'm thinking of converting my Model Slipway Range Safety Launch to brushless set up, as I have limited knowledge of brushless motors I'm hoping that the experts on the forum can give me some guidance/recommendations. The model is a fast patrol launch 40ins x10ins, currently running on 12v 555 motors with 40mm 2bladed plastic props.
I want to upgrade to brass props 4bladed 40mm, brushless motors and Lipo's either 3 or 4s.
Ay suggestions or ideas?

I think you can direct drive the 4 bladed 40mm brass props with 555 motors or try 4s Lipo.

Hi Destroyer42
The Raboesch 4 blade D Type 40mm Prop max RPM is 8800(code 174-05 right/ 174-06 left).
So divide 11.1 (3S) into 8800 about 800kv or 14.8 (4S) is about 600kv.
Generally prop diameter equals motor diameter, but with that number of blades I would go to 50mm brushless motor

These hulls were semi-displacement with a fullo speed of almost 20 knots.
Not exastly a speedboat more a fast cruiser.
The 1 I built went well on 555 motors.
Pity I sold it to Beale Park.
